My name is Akoss Schuppius, I am a doctoral student in organizational leadership at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. I invite you to participate in my research survey. The survey seeks to examine the impact non exposure or the exposure to content on self-advocacy had on you as a participant in a leadership program and whether you feel that the exposure was indeed sufficient for you to better advocate for yourself and/or invite others to advocate on your behalf. My wish for 2025? Development and Comms are recognized as two separate jobs and skill sets. Your Development Leader should be a relationship builder. Your Comms Leader should be a storyteller who fuels relationship building. These two functions should be joined at the hip, but never done by one person. If budget is an issue, bring in a consultant who can build your storytelling library and assets that your Development team can use again and again. Don't sell yourself short by merging these expectations into one person. #nonprofitconsultant #nonprofits #brandbuilding #fundraising

Corporate #DEI isn’t dead. But what will 2025 usher in? Always a pleasure to speak with Jen Colletta for Human Resource Executive 📋 📥Amidst “anti-woke” themes at the recent Republican National Convention - and referring to people as “DEI hires” (we all know what that really means) – corporations must lead the way in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work, now more so than ever before. 📥A new Trump regime would certainly present significant challenges, up to and including changes to the Civil Rights Act. 📥We have already seen uncertainty in the DEI space. Hiring for Chief DEI officers has fallen by 48%, with companies outright stating that they will no longer honor their stated DEI goals. 📥Some have stated that they believe the issues surrounding DEI stem from its perceived transformation from a corporate function to a social justice job. 📥In a “travesty of logic” SHRM, an organization representing over 325,000 HR professionals, announced that it has removed Equity from its strategy.😒 📥This is what happens when intention turns to apathy. When we started discussing the context for Episode 12 of Season 7, I was a bit uncomfortable. Why? Because it discusses race from the perspective of white DE&I professionals and I wasn’t sure how it would go. Then when we hit record with Becky Evan, the fear started to dissipate. Becky is an Associate Professor with Metro State University’s College of Business. Dwight and I talked about her research into white #DEI professionals perception of their work and how it contributes to advancing DEI.
