Have you seen the new "State of Sales" report yet that Salesforce publishes every couple of years? It is out this week, and if you are a company leader over sales / revenue / GTM be sure to check it out. This time over 5500 individuals in sales roles responded during March and April of this year - so it is current, and covers a number of industries. Compare your own business hypotheses to it - and your comments appreciated. For me I was struck so much by the huge interest in co-selling..... when you team up with another company's sales team (or teams) to share ideas, data, and even potential leads. Recent I did an "Ask me Anything" with co-selling leader and CRO Autum Grimm (link in comments) and the timing was amazing that Salesforce came out with a page of data about it - The most interesting things I found from the report are these: Within 12 months, nearly every company expects to use partner sales. [ My question to you: Is yours?] Also, when it comes to AI, 82% of sales teams say they are using AI now. [ My second question to you : Is yours? If so, please share how / what you do that has given you the biggest gains through AI.] Finally, recurring sales, upsells, and cross-sells lead "one-off" selling. 73% say recurring sales, upselling, and cross-selling are the top revenue source over the 28% that say one-off selling is a top revenue source. [So again, what are YOU seeing in your team?] These are all important topics being discussed. The data was pulled in a scientific way with data scientists and offers answers and insights that will help with board conversations and revenue team strategies. Off a call with a few D365 Practice Leads this morning, feedback I'm hearing: - Sales cycles are taking longer than last year - Back to the basics for business development - Doing more with less (headcount-wise) - Don't hire just to hire Pretty common sentiment across the board Takeaway for me is if you are going to choose to hire, make sure that this consultant can be billable and busy for at least the next six months. No sense in hiring if they will sit on the bench
