Turn ON your camera- often folks do not like to have the camera on, yet this Visual Aspect stands out in others’ minds and is memorable. 3. Engage!!! Show Reactions 👍 (use emojis to acknowledge what is said!) 4. Participate!! Leverage the Chat feature to Amplify, Support, Respond, Agree, offer thoughts on discussion 5. Dress to Impress- show that you took time & take the video conference seriously (I.e. you didn’t just roll out of bed onto a call!) 6. Prepare! Ahead of time, check out materials/content of call- look up info on topic - Be ready & resourceful so you’re apprised of the info covered 7. Raise A Hand 🙋‍♀️- Ask Questions!!! Speakers appreciate Engagement & Inquisitive nature & curious inquiries! 8. As a volunteer and a member of the National Graduate Committee who has attended the SHPE Convention since undergrad, I can say that every time is an unforgettable experience. Who knows, I might even be speaking on a panel or two this year! From inspiring speakers to invaluable networking opportunities, there’s so much to gain! Let me share my top 5 tips: ✨ Tip 1: I believe this is the most important one network, network, network! This is a great opportunity to connect with other students and industry leaders. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting CEOs, entrepreneurs, and many inspiring individuals in past conventions. Who knows a new connection could lead to an exciting opportunity! ✨ Tip 2: Attend workshops that interest you and align with your goals. These sessions can provide valuable insights and skills. Make sure you do research on companies you are interested in. ✨ Tip 3: Take notes! It can be tough to remember all the great advice and ideas shared, so bring a journal and a pen.
