Enjoyable. As a Product Manager, you should obsess over that concept.   Yesterday, I chatted with my friend Abhishek Sinha, a senior product leader at NVIDIA, and ex Cohere and Amazon Web Services (AWS).   In front of 40+ Surge founders, we went deep into all things product management. Some insights worth sharing:   👉 “What is a developer?” - it’s important to go deep and specific on your ICP. For example, you can’t just say that your ICP is a developer. What is that? Frontend? Back-end? Data? In SME? Or Enterprise? There are 20+ different type of developers, each with different needs and motivations. Be specific. 👉 All about motivations- definition of personas and segments should not be done based on superficial demographics. Rather, understand the WHY? Understand the motivations, deeply. Why are they using your product? What drives them? Group them based on the WHY. 👉 60% rule. Product Management is not just about drafting PRD’s and project managing build & launch. It’s all about customers. Working backwards. Those motivations? You can only understand them when you spend at least 60% of you time speaking with customers. Anything less, and you’ll miss stuff. 👉 Storytelling is everything - a product can only succeed when the narrative is strong. Communication is key and product marketing should be joined at the hip and part of all key customer conversations. Again, work backwards from the customer and develop clear messaging and value prop, optimized for your different channels.   Which brings us back to enjoyable. That value proposition? It can only be about 3 things: faster, cheaper, more enjoyable. That last one is not the same as ‘easy-to-use’. Some products are not easy, but so unique, so powerful, so rich that they can be hugely enjoyable.   So aim for that. Aim for enjoyable. cc. In October, our CEO Ryan Roslansky and VP of Product Hari Srinivasan took the stage at our annual Talent Connect event to unveil LinkedIn's first agent, Hiring Assistant (https://lnkd.in/dPX-e5-H). Part of their discussion centered on why LinkedIn's technology uniquely positions us to provide the best AI-powered tools for our members and customers.    While AI is not new to LinkedIn, it is still relatively new to some of our members and customers, so I wanted to break down how this technology actually works and how it powers our products.    At LinkedIn we use a combination of technologies, referred to as our technology stack. This includes our large language models (LLMs) and data such as the insights from the LinkedIn Economic Graph, which is comprised of information from one billion members, 68 million companies and 41k skills. Underneath this are GPUs with powerful processing capacity, which train these LLMs, and finally, data centers. By bringing these all together, we’re able to create experiences that help our members and customers be more productive and successful.   Check out my video for more.

Presenting at #MRCVegas2024 was a true pleasure and the response to our session, "Future of Strong Auth – Passkey" was fantastic. Shout out to Anand Bahety, Mahendar Madhavan, and the team for their invaluable contribution in enabling passkey capabilities for eBay users. Also, thanks to Kathryn Irwin and Julie Fergerson, CPFPP from #MRC for the opportunity and for making this conference possible. A few things to share on the topic of Passkey and its impact on payment risk management: 1. Passkey has significant potential as an option for 3DS, a standard currently in draft at EMVCo. If anyone is interested in learning or collaborating further, feel free to reach out to Ulrich Herberg, Ph.D. from eBay who has been actively involved in these discussions. 2. It would be particularly intriguing to see how EU regulations will classify passkey—whether as a two-factor or as a single-factor authentication method. 3. I learned from some of my friends about how some EU banks are already adopting mobile apps for verification over SMS. Similar innovations in the U.S. would be awesome! I'm eager to hear your thoughts on the following topics: 1. Has the widespread adoption of 3DS in the EU indeed resulted in lower chargebacks compared to the U.S.? 2. Given Passkey's potential, do you think it has the capability to not only safeguard accounts but also mitigate first-party chargebacks?
