Micron’s team delivered a record revenue quarter for our fiscal Q1, which represented an 84% increase from our year-ago revenue results. Our data center revenue reached a record high, making up more than half of our revenue for the first time, with revenue growing 400% year-over-year. Our shipments of HBM — a critical product for #AI data center servers — were ahead of plan and we doubled HBM revenue from the previous quarter. Customer inventory reductions in consumer-oriented segments and seasonality are slowing near-term bit shipment estimates. That said, we expect this adjustment period to be relatively brief and anticipate customer inventories reaching healthier levels by spring, enabling stronger bit shipments in the second half of fiscal and calendar 2025. Longer term, we see particularly robust growth ahead for HBM, with the total addressable market growing from $16 billion in 2024 to greater than $100 billion in 2030 (bigger than the entire combined DRAM/HBM market today). We continue to apply our technology leadership to create leading-edge products — from high-capacity server modules to SSDs, low-power DRAM and mobile memory — that address the high-growth segments of multiple markets, putting Micron in the strongest competitive position in our 46-year history.

#DataCenter #Storage to Reach $103 Billion by 2028 Original Design Manufacturer vendors lead with 32% revenue share followed by Dell EMC (20%), Huawei (7%), NetApp (5%) and Lenovo (4%) New forecasts from Omdia predict that #datacenter (DC) #storage revenue will climb to $103 billion by 2028, reflecting robust growth and increased ASPs for storage. The forecast includes DC external storage revenue from both arrays and server expansions. The DC storage market in 2023 experienced a downturn, primarily due to economic challenges and decreased #IT spending. The full year of storage revenue registered $53 billion, down 16% Y/Y. The research from Omdia found that original design manufacturers (#ODMs) revenue decreased by over 30% in 2023, as DC equipment spending temporarily shifted away from storage. In contrast, OEM vendors focusing on traditional storage demonstrated greater resilience, despite a small single digit Y/Y decline. In 2023, #cloudstorage shipments faced constraints as #cloudservice providers allocated significant portions of their budgets to the purchase of costly #GPUs. However, the storage market is poised for a resurgence driven by several key factors. The ongoing #digitaltransformation, rapid growth in #datavolumes, advancements in #AI, and the urgent need for storage modernization are all expected to fuel renewed growth. As industries become increasingly data-dependent, the storage market’s downturn is likely to be short-lived. These factors will collectively revitalize the storage market, ensuring a return to a growth trajectory. chip design software or "EDA Tools" industry is already incredibly concentrated. It is a duopoly on most tools and a practical monopoly in some. Cadence Design Systems icfb, Siemens Calibre and many other tools are basically used by nearly everyone, leaving no space for even the one or two other vendors within the industry https://lnkd.in/gCQMFvQR is about further consolidation. Ansys has a few near monopoly tools, nearly the only choice for several very important tasks in large SoC design. Synopsys Inc now wants to acquire those I hope some concessions are extracted by the regulators and also that other regulators take note

Intel Announces Retirement of CEO Pat Gelsinger. David Zinsner and Michelle Johnston Holthaus named interim Co-CEOs. Holthaus also appointed to the newly created position of CEO of Intel Products. Frank Yeary named interim executive chair. SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 2, 2024 – Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) today announced that CEO Pat Gelsinger retired from the company after a distinguished 40-plus-year career and has stepped down from the board of directors, effective Dec. 1, 2024.  Intel has named two senior leaders, David Zinsner and Michelle (MJ) Johnston Holthaus, as interim co-chief executive officers while the board of directors conducts a search for a new CEO. Zinsner is executive vice president and chief financial officer, and Holthaus has been appointed to the newly created position of CEO of Intel Products, a group that encompasses the company’s Client Computing Group (CCG), Data Center and AI Group (DCAI) and Network and Edge Group (NEX). Frank Yeary, independent chair of the board of Intel, will become interim executive chair during the period of transition. Intel Foundry leadership structure remains unchanged. The board has formed a search committee and will work diligently and expeditiously to find a permanent successor to Gelsinger. Yeary said, “On behalf of the board, I want to thank Pat for his many years of service and dedication to Intel across a long career in technology leadership. Pat spent his formative years at Intel, then returned at a critical time for the company in 2021. As a leader, Pat helped launch and revitalize process manufacturing by investing in state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing, while working tirelessly to drive innovation throughout the company.” Yeary continued, “While we have made significant progress in regaining manufacturing competitiveness and building the capabilities to be a world-class foundry, we know that we have much more work to do at the company and are committed to restoring investor confidence.
