On August 9, Illinois added regulations concerning the use of AI in employment decisions. Many other states are discussing hundreds of similar initiatives. Quick reminder, a call made using EITHER an ATDS or a prerecorded/artificial voice is an actionable regulated technology call under the TCPA. Data was a hot topic at ILTACON last week! One CIO expressed, "my data is everywhere, and everywhere else." While I typically focus on business themes for law firms, this sparked a new perspective for me. 💡 To effectively leverage our data (cue AI here), cleaning and organizing it is key. Easy data segmentation will be crucial. For example, we need to train AI on our "best" contracts while excluding undesirable ones. Or, we'll need to ensure the AI doesn't pull from irrelevant e-discovery files (could you imagine?). I feel like I'm only scratching the surface on the impact of data management for firms and how firms approach the vast amount of data they are collecting and storing. Luckily, a bunch of the smart people I work with at Affinity think about this every day and I'm just personally behind on the discussion. Is data something you are thinking about for your firm?
