A working definition of podcasting
- Let's start by putting together a working definition of what podcasts are. This way, we are talking about the same thing. Now, you think this may sound simple, but I run into this problem all the time. I'll encounter people who say they want to produce a podcast. And when I start talking to them about the strategy for the shows, the frequency of the episodes, the cadence and the production style, they come back and say, "No, I want to produce a podcast," as in a single video or audio file. This isn't a podcast. A podcast is an ongoing commitment; a series or a show. Now, you might have a plan that is finite in purpose, where maybe there's six episodes, but the whole purpose of a podcast is to produce something that's serialized with multiple parts.
