- When it comes time to make an audio podcast file, there's really two ways to go. One is export directly from your editing tool, and the other is use a compression program. Let me show you both workflows in general. If you've got something loaded up into an audio editor, like I do here in audacity, when you choose export you'll see a couple of options. Oftentimes you'll encounter presets, here we have one for MP3, which is broadly compatible with podcasting, but if you want to back up a file, that's higher quality, you can go with the WAV or AIFF. We also hear see export audio, which gives us the ability to customize the settings a bit. Here, you see that we could choose the file type there's MP3 and that's the most common for podcast, but you'll see other options.
