Aerodyne, recognized as the No.1 Drone Service Provider globally, boasts a team of over 1,000 personnel across more than 45 countries and 16 international offices. This collaboration aims to drive forward Malaysia’s DroneTech ecosystem, ensuring sustainable agricultural practices and addressing critical challenges in food production and distribution through advanced drone technology. EHang (NASDAQ: EH) is taking flight in the Urban Supply Aerial Vehicles for Emergencies (U-SAVE) project, a key initiative under the European Institute of Innovation and Technology. Here’s why this is a significant development: Rapid Emergency Response: U-SAVE aims to cut down emergency response times by bypassing road traffic with aerial transport. Advanced Technology: The project integrates intelligent software for Air Traffic Management and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) operations. Strong Partnerships: Collaborators include AERA, ANRA Technologies, and the Estonian Aviation Academy, among others. EHang’s Contribution: EHang will provide its EH216 series pilotless eVTOL aircraft, showcasing its expertise in UAM. 2024 proves to be an exhilarating year for EHang (NASDAQ: EH) as the company expands its operations into Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and other low-altitude economic (LAE) "model cities." A significant milestone occurred on May 15th, with the flight demonstration of a 216-S AAV over Shenzhen's Baishawan Park, marking the first eVTOL flight in the Dapeng New Area. Hosted by the Dapeng New District Kuiyong office and executed by Shenzhen's Pengyou Flight Technology and International Intelligent Technology, the demo showcased the integration of advanced technologies like 5G and China's BeiDou Navigation Satellite System into urban commuting and emergency rescue applications. Dapeng New District aims to foster eVTOL operations, developing smart air systems, aircraft exhibitions, and low-altitude tourism, in line with Shenzhen's 2023 strategy to bolster the LAE economy. PengYou Flight Technology, a key player supporting LAE sector growth, is actively involved in building vertiport sites, promoting eVTOL exhibitions, and developing intelligent air travel equipment and emergency command systems. In Keynote Speech YB Najwan Halimi , Selangor State Executive Committee for Youth, Sports, Entrepreneurship and Disaster Management said drone usage will continue to evolve from just for recreational actvities such as taking pictures previously towards more added values skills, creating significant impact in various sectors in aviation industries including military and others. With that mindset, the state government, through Selangor Aviation & Technology Innovation (SELATI), an organization initiated by state government of Selangor to be actively involved in aerospace and aviation, has created the Selangor Drone Centre of Excellence (SDCOE). What is the future of air mobility? A group of #HKUST students in last Spring term's T&M Corporate Consulting Project course have envisaged four pragmatic and innovative proposals to elevate advanced air mobility (#AAM) to new heights. Focusing on surveillance, emergency services, tourism, and airport connectivity, the students have developed their cutting-edge ideas involving the use of electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft and drones, under the guidance by Prof. Betty Lin and Arup mentors Ms Jin Fan, Mr Jasper Hilkhuijsen, Mr Geoff Moore MSyI MIET, and Mr Tsui Fung (Jack) Lam. At the final presentation competition on May 10, Team 2 “NeoCopter” for Tourism and Team 3 “WB Fame” for Emergency Services were selected as the best performing teams by a distinguished panel of judges, including Mr Michael Kwok and Mr Matthew Gevers from Arup; Mr Adrian Morales from Aéroports de Paris; and Mr Ian Ralph from Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM). This partnership exemplifies the potential of Urban Air Mobility Management in archipelagic regions like Fiji. ## eVTOLs: Revolutionizing Island Connectivity The 'Laila' aircraft, with its 400-mile range, is ideally suited for connecting Fiji's 330 islands. This technology offers: 1. Enhanced accessibility to remote locations 2. Low-carbon air cargo alternatives 3. New emergency medical routes ## UAMM Considerations To ensure successful integration, we must focus on: - Developing vertiport infrastructure - Sustainable charging infrastructure using Solar, Wind and Hydro-electric technologies - Implementing advanced air traffic management systems - Establishing maintenance networks - Creating comprehensive training programs Crucially, we can leverage Fiji's renewable resources – hydroelectric, wind, and solar – to create a sustainable charging network for these aircraft. ## Future Impact This collaboration between Fiji Airways and Odys Aviation not only expands commercial operations but also drives investment in the future of travel for Fiji's people. Success Story, Region 10 - Drone Traffic and Its Potential Impact on Local Authorities ⭐🚀 “The utilising of lower airspace as a transportation route will be crucial for enabling and enhancing faster public services and lighter transportation as a whole, for the region, business and industry,” says Mikael Fredriksson, POC, Region 10. This is a success story about how Aero EDIH empowered Region Västerbotten to explore drone-based solutions. Aero EDIH collaborated with Region Västerbotten and parts of Region 10—a network of ten municipalities in northern Sweden—to explore the potential of drone-based logistics. The objective was to address challenges posed by vast geographical distances and static infrastructure, paving the way for innovative transport solutions. Through a tailored training workshop, Aero EDIH provided critical insights into the technical, operational, and regulatory aspects of drone logistics. This success story highlights how tailored training, and innovation can transform local authorities and foster a more connected and inclusive region.
