What a bold statement and commitment to strategic innovative technologies! "In 2024, another $2.3 billion investment bomb will explode in Seoul for robotics. With a clear focus on investment through joint public-private efforts to enhance competitiveness in technology, human resources and enterprises, the Korean government also aims to significantly increase the widespread adoption of robots in various industries, including manufacturing, logistics, welfare and security, by distributing over one million units by 2030." It follows the logic of proactively creating domestic markets for local companies first to establish a solid presence and promote organic growth. This makes it easier for local companies to enter the global market, while the government creates a supportive growth environment by strengthening cooperation between relevant agencies and actively supporting international certifications. It is a signal to local OEMs of the government`s commitment to innovation leadership. An inspiring approach to truly drive transformation, global competitiveness and overcome structural barriers #Exoskeleton #tech4good #humancentricity #EUtechdeal #thinkingfromtheend

South Korea is the first country to have robots as 10% of its workforce. The country now has 1,012 robots per 10,000 employees, according to the International Federation of Robotics, making it the top adopter of robotics in industrial settings. This is more than double the density of robots in any other country, except Singapore, which has 770 robots per 10,000 employees. The European Union has a robot density of 219 units per 10,000, with Germany, Sweden, and Denmark leading the way. A shrinking population in South Korea has called into question the stability of the country’s economy and the South Korean government announced plans earlier this year to invest $2.4 billion into robotics in the public and private sector by the end of the decade. Sectors targetted include manufacturing, services, agriculture, logistics, healthcare & defence, with work to understand and mitigate the social and societal impact. With tech and thought leaders including Elon Musk predicting up to 10 billion robots worldwide in the next two decades, this is an area businesses cannot ignore. #automation #robotics #AI #ReimaginingBusiness

Great news for those in robotics in Singapore or hoping to set up a regional headquarters here. An update from Jacqueline Poh, Managing Director at Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and Chair of the National Robotics Programme on the announcement that an additional $60m has been set aside to help spur robot adoption in industry. https://lnkd.in/g7MFJWNU An interesting snippet from a Straits Times article highlights that the global robotics market is worth $50 billion today and is estimated to grow beyond $60 billion by 2028. It's great to see local cleaning robotics company LionsBot International expanding with a new factory in Singapore. As we focus on robotics and automation, we anticipate the trend moving into construction as one of the focus industries over the coming years.
Singapore has the 2nd highest robot density per employee in the world. Some of the automation is in manufacturing and logistics, but we also have a lot of service robots to augment our workforce. Singapore is also making moves to secure a slice of the growing global robotics market, which is estimated to grow beyond S$60 billion by 2028. The S$60 million investment into the National Robotics Programme (NRP), which I chair with Fred Chew, CEO of A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research, aims to advance R&D 🔬 and promote robust industry collaborations for eventual research commercialisation 🤝. It will also catalyse the further adoption of robotics across key sectors like manufacturing, healthcare and logistics, while nurturing a skilled talent pool ready to drive and sustain these technological advances. We look forward to partnering with businesses looking to test and scale innovative robotic solutions through Singapore and drive industry transformations in our local ecosystems. 🦾 #robotics #Singapore #innovation #tech #healthcare #manufacturing
