This is a very insightful & thought provoking blog post by Tanj Bennett! I'm on record as saying that DDR5 would have been stillborn if the two largest CPU incumbents weren't so inextricably linked to it with its awful beachfront bandwidth and package pin count interface! Tanj's blog gives us a tremendous opportunity to revisit the dialog on DRAMs next act and here are a couple of tidbits I'll throw into the ring :- 1) We could consider a chiplet interface variant of Tanj's ideas. The #overclocked memory delivered #flawless stability with #zero errors in extensive #tests, though attempts to reach 8800 MT/s resulted in a 40% failure rate.
