Life as a General Manager in My 20s When my dad told me to move back to Ghana and take on the role of General Manager, the task felt overwhelming. I kept telling him, “It’s too big for me.” But he always responded, “I know why I’m making you the General Manager. I know it won’t be easy but I know you can do it.” And he was right. Leading a company at this level isn’t easy—especially the company being new and it’s in an environment where many people don’t necessarily care about you or the business, and some even have bad intentions. But with God, I know I’ll navigate this path successfully. At times, I feel disappointed that I didn’t get to experience the career I envisioned in the UK. I applied to 500+ companies, hoping for an opportunity, but every single one turned me down.
