Will AI take over all Customer Support Jobs? In my opinion, AI will not completely take over customer support roles but rather enhance them. AI is good at handling basic queries, reducing the workload for human agents. It can speed up the process of providing information to customers... ...and identify frustrated individuals needing quick assistance, preventing customer dissatisfaction. Dealing with multiple bots before connecting with a human agent can be frustrating. Personally, such experiences make me rethink using the product or service again. The essence of customer chat support lies in building relationships. Well... not really the future of customer service or sales... implementing at scale right now. An interesting part is when the actual human (i.e., customer, prospect) will in the future have their own agentic setup for themselves dealing with company created agents contacting from the other side. Your own personal agents might be authenticated to complete and close out menial or repetitive tasks. Pop, pop, kapow. What? Think about that for a moment. Comments. BTW. Bland AI is one of several companies refining conversational voice-based AI for customer support and sales. Having demoed much of what is available, I can say that the models being used, even when properly trained on extensive application specific legacy data, lack some of the nuance required in, for example, a successful executive-level recruiting call. But this is quickly changing and it's clear that AI will be able to verbally navigate even very complex sales and support processes at some point in the not too distant future. Talent acquisition leadership should be actively engaging with these tools and working them into their sourcing, selection, and hiring processes wherever appropriate in order to maximize ROI and improve the candidate experience.
