The Good and the Ugly of a Growing SaaS Platform: The Good: Your platform is growing, more customers are joining, and usage is on the rise! 📈 The Ugly: Data volume is growing exponentially. While it's exciting to see your user base expand, each customer generates more data as they use the platform. This growth compounds quickly, eventually creating a bottleneck for your data environment. Now, imagine you’ve built a dashboard on this rapidly scaling data environment. As user numbers and data volumes increase, the dashboard can slow down over time. Before you know it, it becomes unusable and expensive to maintain. Two things to consider here: (1) Are dashboards the right solution for what the business is trying to achieve? And are you aware of the maintenance involved in developing and scaling them? (2)Is your analytics environment built for scale, or is it still running on raw data straight from the source? Oftentimes in data, the first release of a dashboard, report, or product meets the mark. But without the proper strategy and infrastructure in place, they can degrade and eventually become relics.
