The 6 traits of a coachable recruiter: 1. Has a growth mindset 2. Open to having their assumptions and beliefs challenged 3. Willing to take action and try new (hard) things 4. Eager to take responsibility and wants to be held accountable 5. Perseveres through setbacks 6. Constantly improving and sharing their learns
Most importantly of all - is overtly grateful for the investment of time. Gratitude doesn’t get enough air time in the high performance traits discussion. It sets such a healthy dynamic for coaching.
Number 2 is the rare one. A great recruiter needs a lot of confidence and self belief, so having the hybrid of that plus being open to having those beliefs challenged is the sign of a great leader waiting to happen
Well put, Alex
I have a similar post coming out today so will have to change the date 😂 Couldn’t agree more with all those points Alex Elliott - and there are a few things that leaders can do to encourage it, too!
OR THE FLIP SIDE 1- they think they know it all 2- work life balance is more important than sacrifice to be successful 3- work against colleagues and the brand 4- always moaning 5- actually think they work really really hard
Retains the belief that "they're never as good as they think they are, and its never as bad as you think it is" is a big one for me. Avoids the champagne and razor blades scenario I used to experience.
They are brilliant to be around 👊
I don't think that I'd hire anyone, in any position that couldn't demonstrate point 1 clearly.
Radiators not drains :)
Alex Elliott Coachability might be the single greatest multiplier of raw talent in this industry it transforms good recruiters into exceptional ones.
