Last week Amadeus issued their 5 Travel Trends for 2025. This report gives us a glimpse into what’s next. These trends show how nostalgia, technology, and the need for real connections are changing how we explore the world. Here’s what’s on the horizon: 🕰️ 1. New Heydays Travelers are embracing nostalgia, reliving childhood vacations, and recreating the adventures of their youth. Familiar destinations and retro experiences are in high demand. Example: Think Airbnb’s Polly Pocket-themed rental or families returning to classic beach resorts they loved as kids. Even luxury trains like the La Dolce Vita Orient Express are making a comeback with vintage-inspired designs. ✈️ 2. Personalized Flying Flying is getting smarter and more connected. Airlines are using AI and 5G to personalize entertainment, meals, and even connectivity. Example: Delta and Turkish Airlines now offer free, high-speed Wi-Fi. Imagine boarding a flight and your seatback screen already knows your favorite shows or music preferences. Some airlines are even experimenting with VR headsets for first-class passengers. 🏨 3. Trailblazer Hotels Hotels are no longer just a place to stay—they’re the destination. Travelers are seeking unique, culturally rich accommodations that tell a story. Example: Reverb Hamburg, built in a WWII bunker with rooftop gardens, or the Admiralty Arch in London, now a Waldorf Astoria hotel. These hotels are attractions themselves, drawing visitors from all over. 🌏 4. Asia Uplift Asia is making a big comeback, with destinations like Thailand, China, and Japan leading the way. New visa-free policies, cultural campaigns, and luxury hotels are attracting travelers. Example: Thailand’s digital nomad visa and new tourism campaigns aim to welcome 40 million visitors in 2025. Meanwhile, Japan’s Expo 2025 and shows like Shōgun are driving interest in cultural tours. 🤝 5. Connections IRL (In Real Life) People are over endless swiping and online chats. Travel is becoming a way to form real-life connections, from romantic sparks to lasting friendships. Example: Virgin Voyages’ adults-only cruises encourage mingling, while group tours like G Adventures’ “Solo-ish” trips are designed to help solo travelers meet others. Social hubs and community-driven hotels are booming too, making it easier to connect with like-minded people. Travel is changing, and these trends show how it’s becoming more personal, nostalgic, and meaningful. Which of these trends excites you the most ;-) ? #AmadeusTravelTrends2025 #FutureOfTravel #TravelInnovation #TravelIndustry #PersonalizedTravel #NostalgiaTravel #AsiaTravel #IRLConnections #HotelsWithPurpose https://accntu.re/4gdHAX0

Like the years before, there are trends coming this year that'll help frequent flyers and tourists with new ways to travel. With predictions from Airbnb and Booking.com, these trends are gearing up to change how travel will feel like in 2025. Thanks to Laura Hall of BBC News, here are five trends forecasted for 2025, as predicted by stakeholders such as Jenny Southan, CEO of Globetrender and Jasmine Bina, CEO of Concept Bureau. 1. Noctourism Coined from the terms, "nocturnal" and "tourism", this trend involves nighttime travel experiences, from late-opening museums to bioluminescent beaches to northern lights watching. Trailfinders suggests Finnish Lapland and Norway's Lofoten Islands, plus Svalbard and Iceland as prime destinations for noctotourism. 2. Calmcations Calmcations which are holidays focused on creating a sense of tranquillity are looking to be a major trend in 2025. Projects like Havila Voyages and Unplugged and new retreat Majamaja are helping people escape technology and reconnect with nature. 3. AI in Travel AI now plays a vital role in trip planning and companies like Amadeus and Byway have applications to back this up. Other firms, like Tripadvisor, are using generative AI to help build itineraries for trips, while airports and hotels like Hyatt hotels are fully maximizing AI for comfort and hospitality. 4. The return of the holiday romance According to a 2024 Forbes Health survey, 79% of Gen Z feel exhausted from online dating. To solve this, a report from Globetrender and Amadeus includes a section on meeting new people in real life as one of its five key predictions for the year. 5. The rise of off-the-beaten-track destinations After significant overtourism issues in 2024, off-the-beaten-track destinations are on the rise. As Byway notes in their travel trends of 2025, "people want to travel where they're welcomed wholeheartedly". The firm cites "destination dupes" – holiday locations that are similar to popular hotspots – as a trend to watch.
