Does your favorite local coffee shop or boutique have a professional business website? Small businesses are the backbone of Africa’s economy, yet they’re invisible in the digital economy. For years, my passion has been to empower businesses by deepening their understanding of consumer preferences. By identifying what people love—or don’t love—about these businesses, I strive to enhance their overall experience. In 2012, Louis Majanja co-founded Ajua, a company dedicated to providing large enterprises with insights into customer satisfaction. We enabled some of Africa’s most forward-thinking brands to understand their customers better. But, while assisting these large businesses, I recognized a critical gap: small businesses were being left behind in the digital economy. With limited resources and minimal online visibility, they struggled to attract potential customers and compete effectively. This realization inspired us to launch tappi. At Tappi, we: 1. Empower SMEs with their Online Visibility: We equip small businesses with tools to enhance their digital presence, to be found by major search engines, broaden their customer base, and boost sales—a win-win for businesses and their customers. 2. Capture Positive Customer Reviews: Many SMEs lack a systematic approach to gathering genuine customer feedback to build online credibility. Positive reviews not only validate their credibility but also foster trust among new customers. 3. Build Consumer Trust & Loyalty: Satisfied customers are more likely to become repeat patrons and advocates for the brand, sharing their positive experiences with their networks. We’ve come a LONG WAY in 4 years 😱 When we #innovate with new technology we put ourselves in the position and the mind set of who we are innovating the product for… We then (or I at least) draw on a white board what I think this set of people would benefit from, the features I think would be super powerful and what the net result for our business would be from us developing it. When I sit and think of the net result, I don’t think of direct commercials, I never have. We don’t develop software for us to directly benefit commercially from, all of our software is to improve a payments ecosystem and improve or enable someone in the payments chain. By doing this, indirectly we drive more revenue for Modern World Business Solutions - The net result for us, could look like any of the below ⬇️ 🎯 More partners will use us because they can’t get this anywhere else, resulting in more applications = more revenue 🎯 Lower attrition, meaning happier partners, = more revenue 🎯 Happy and supported merchants, lower attrition, = more revenue 🎯 VAS embedded in our CRM, more revenue opportunities for our resellers meaning more revenue for them and for us 🎯 VAS for merchants…… merchants will stay with us longer = more revenue #resellers always say - “ so what’s the catch if all this is free” There’s so many ways for us to get a ROI on the technology we build that all come naturally as a byproduct of building great payments software that people want to use. This was our first attempt to create something new back in Covid times 👇🏼 And this year we will launch our first merchant facing innovation that we believe to be the best yet!
