PACTcon starts tomorrow in Montreal. Meanwhile the open letter led by Labour in the Arts has gained over 400 signatures from arts workers across Turtle Island. Visit LIA Instagram below to read the non-response from Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT).  There is a giant gulf between priorities of the artists and workers in our sector versus its leaders. While PACT may not want to do any of the things requested, their response is wholly tepid and uncreative, doing nothing to lessen the divide. Why not, at a minimum, invite LIA for a facilitated conversation?  Instead the conference will carry on, business as usual, while the world does not. If you are attending this year's conference, I am imploring you to keep this letter in the front of your mind whether you agree with it or not. Attend the one session that hints at this letter, being about "divisive issues," and speak up.  We valorize our art form as being subversive and yet the majority of it couldn't be less so. Comissioned by Marketing Manchester – in partnership with the Manchester Accommodation BID and Screen Manchester – the map guides visitors through the region’s iconic filming locations, showcasing Greater Manchester’s starring role in productions ranging from blockbuster films like Captain America: The First Avenger and Darkest Hour to acclaimed TV series such as Peaky Blinders, Queer as Folk, and the world’s longest-running soap opera, Coronation Street. National Arts Theatre, the DEN of creative performances in the heart of Lagos. I went there with family as a child. I have seen Olu Jacobs, Joke Silva, RMD, Oga Bello, Aluwe, Baba Sala and many actors on stage. There were musical and cultural performances as well, King Sunny Ade, Lijadu sisters and others representing different genre of music and tribes in Nigeria 🇳🇬. Performer's Rights are hardly discussed in Nigeria 🇳🇬. Most discussion focus on Copyright with little or nothing on related or neighbouring rights. Expressions of Folklore and Performances are regarded as related or neighbouring rights. World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) defines: 'Related rights, also referred to as neighboring rights, protect the legal interests of certain persons and legal entities that contribute to making works available to the public or that produce subject matter which, while not qualifying as works under the copyright systems of all countries, contains sufficient creativity or technical and organizational skill to justify recognition of a copyright-like property right. The law of related rights deems that the productions that result from the activities of such persons and entities merit legal protection as they are related to the protection of works of authorship under copyright. Some laws make clear, however, that the exercise of related rights should leave intact, and in no way affect, the protection of copyright.' So related rights is an extention of copyright but not copyright. It is a place for performers to seek protection. The Copyright Act of Nigeria 🇳🇬 2022 has provisions on performance. LIVE PERFORMANCE. The next assignment will be on performance and it is dedicated to a friend that recently passed on. A huge loss to academia.

I just came back from Latvia where I attended applied theatre workshops and I am all excited about it. What does theatre have to do with leading organizational change in business? Turns out that a lot! To lead successful change in a company we need to reach people's hearts. To me, very few power point presentations can do it ;) A whole new world is to convey change message through the body. Allowing people to test how it would actually FEEL when the change happens is my discovery of the month. And adding playefulness for sure can do no harm to the process ;) Can't wait to test theatre techniques in business environment. Do you use theatre techniques to lead change?
