Every school that I work with are brave and fearless because of these three key things: 👉🏿 They recognise that their understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion in their schools isn't what they want it to be 👉🏿 They are prepared to do what they haven't done before to get a different outcome 👉🏿 They see that diversity, equity and inclusion is not a 'nice-to-have' or a tick box requirement. It is an integral part of whole school improvement. This is my view - and as someone who used to be a Head of School, I recognise the constraints of the job. Reflecting on my journey from an English Language Learner (ELL) to CEO, I am reminded every day of the barriers that ELLs face nationwide. Despite their resilience and potential, support and understanding for ELLs are often lacking. This journey isn’t just about personal growth—it’s about the responsibility to pave the way for others who come from similar backgrounds. I was an ELL before becoming a CEO, and no matter where I go, I will always be an ELL before a CEO. My commitment to supporting ELLs isn’t just a mission; it’s a promise.
