In Michigan, nearly 12% of people face food insecurity, and many of our community members face barriers to accessing nutritious food. Food insecurity has soared over the past few years, making it more important than ever to create a future where our food system is equitable, sustainable, and equipped to meet southeast Michigan’s needs. At our foundation, we support a number of nonprofit organizations, including Fair Food Network, Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan, Forgotten Harvest, Capuchin Soup Kitchen, and Make Food Not Waste, who are working to increase food access, destigmatized food insecurity, and provide education and resources so that people throughout our region can thrive. KFC Foundation: Kentucky Fried Wishes GRANTS FOR IMPROVING HEALTH AND WELL-BEING Application deadline: May 1 to May 31, 2024 for the upcoming application window (“cycle”), focused on health and well-being. Grant amount: Up to $10,000 Description: Through the Kentucky Fried Wishes program, the KFC Foundation will award up to $1 million total to 100 nonprofit organizations annually in the United States and Puerto Rico. 25 grants will be awarded per quarterly cycle. The next quarterly cycle for 2024 focuses on improving health and well-being, including efforts such as mobile health clinic creation, playground improvements, domestic violence shelter upgrades, and accommodations for individuals with disabilities; Eligible nonprofit organizations must operate on the local level (or be an affiliate or chapter of a larger organization that operates locally) and directly benefit their surrounding community. Puerto Rico-based nonprofits with 501(c)(3) who meet other eligibility requirements can apply.
