How do we get training right in our Financial Crime Programmes? 🎯 Ensuring our people have the required knowledge, skills and experience to manage financial crime risks is a key regulatory requirement and expectation and a feature of many recent high profile enforcement actions. 🛑 🚧 In fighting the increasing volume and sophistication of financial crime, firms can’t rely solely on technology and must ensure that their people appropriately understand, appreciate and manage the associated risks. 👥 I recently heard someone refer to financial crime training was a “nice to have” and failed to recognise its critical importance to their programme, business and people. 🔥 I am looking forward to joining the Compliance Institute for a webinar on “Building compliant and effective Financial Crime Training” on 4 February at 1pm. I will be sharing practical insights including how to build a financial crime training programme; drive innovation, engagement and efficiency; and address the common regulatory, audit and organisational pitfalls. If you would like to join this one-hour webinar, open to all and free to members of the Compliance Institute, you can register at https://lnkd.in/e444g_d7 Why not follow us at ComplianceLnD or check out our free short articles available at https://lnkd.in/eTtAj9Wf. June 23rd marked the annual World Whistleblowers’ Day, an important occasion to recognise the courage and significance of individuals who speak up about misconduct, fraud, corruption, or other unethical behaviour. Trust, being one of our core values, is instrumental in shaping an open corporate culture and cultivating an atmosphere that promotes exchange, transparency, and integrity. We encourage everyone to raise concerns, suggest improvements or ask questions when in doubt. At SICPA we foster a Speak Up culture and we encourage employees and external stakeholders to report their concerns through our #whistleblowing system, the SICPA Speak Up Line. #Compliance with the law and doing business with integrity are not optional; they are crucial as a basis of trust, which is at the heart of what we do. To learn more about our Speak Up Line, please visit our dedicated webpage - SICPA Speak Up Line: https://lnkd.in/gSjgKEUU #WorldWhistleblowers’Day

𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺-𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗣𝗢𝗣) 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘀? POP is designed for persistently reoccurring incidents that cause harm and require intervention. It involves identifying specific problems, thorough analysis, tailored response development, and assessing the effectiveness of those responses. This approach follows the 𝗦𝗔𝗥𝗔 (Scanning, Analysis, Response, Assessment) model. Here's how 𝗦𝗔𝗥𝗔 works: 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: Identify and prioritize recurring issues. 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀: Gather information to understand the underlying causes. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲: Develop and implement tailored activities to address these causes. Crime is too complex to state with absolute confidence that a particular response will work in every place and every time, so it's crucial to 𝙜𝙖𝙪𝙜𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 of your selected responses and assess whether they make sense based on the specific context of your local problem. 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Measure the impact of your response and adjust as needed. One main challenge in problem-solving is the 𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙝 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 without thorough scanning and analysis. These stages are crucial for framing the problem correctly and selecting appropriate responses. Just as police identify persistent problems, you can spot recurring issues in your relationships. By analyzing the root causes, you gain insight into underlying tensions. Tailoring your response—such as open communication or mediation—directly addresses these issues. Finally, assessing the outcome ensures the conflict is truly resolved. As Paulo Coelho said, “Everything that happens once can never happen again. But everything that happens twice will surely happen a third time.” So, why not apply the SARA model to understand and prevent these recurring issues from happening a fourth time? https://lnkd.in/efpFEg8h
