Last week, I had the pleasure of attending and presenting at the CDO-AI Nordics event in Copenhagen. It was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with an old (and dearly missed) colleague Stelios Panteloukas and other data peers like Anders Butzbach Christensen and Igor Máté Dr. as well as making many new acquaintances, including Maria Christiansen, Sarbajit Deb, Azin Emami and Amin Morshed among several others. For those interested in the goings-on, here are my personal four key takeaways: 1- Data is key- With increasing reliance on #AI-driven decision-making, as well as the scale of impact these decisions will have, it is more vital than ever that we have data that is ‘trustworthy’ and ‘representative’. Data gaps aren't just inconveniences, they significantly affect AI effectiveness and outcomes, which in turn affect people. 2- Data Governance is our way of ensuring the above- Robust data governance and lifecycle data management are foundational to ensuring data is accurate, reliable, and fit for purpose. So, how do we redefine governance to increase the chances of it actually delivering value in a man-machine symbiotic setting? [This thread was the focus of my own presentation]. 3- #Strategicalignment is non-negotiable- Successful data and AI initiatives must align directly with overall business strategy, otherwise, they may struggle to deliver tangible value. Giving data leaders a seat at the executive table ensures strategic coherence and maximises value. 4- Data as a tangible asset- Predictions presented by Dan Sommer about the "data economy" were thought-provoking! We may soon see corporate data becoming a literal commodity, given its superior quality and high value for training AI models. This shift could redefine how we perceive and leverage data. So, 'data is gold' and 'data is the new currency' may be realised in a more literal way than the applied value derived from the data-driven insights. Finally, big thanks to CDM Media for an excellent and professionally organised event, from Emmanuelle M.'s initial screening and coordination to Debi Bell-Hosking's fantastic facilitation on the day.

Thank you, Sara for this summary - or even more: "mission statement"! Events like these are essential to fuel our agenda back at "home". If you allow me to echo your points with this: # diversity of speakers/attendees underscored that if we want to truly leverage data in the most relevant and beneficial way, we must embrace multiple perspectives. Seeing data through just one lens is not an option. # we shouldn’t be shy about learning – this shift is as dramatic as moving from hand tools to industrial machinery, forcing us to adapt to something entirely new. # at the same time, there’s no need for drama. Things are often simpler than we think. Your one on man-hour calculation – a perfect example that data is generated at an insane pace and variety. Like fruit ripening in a buoyant magic garden… we choose: pick the low-hanging ones and make the most of them, or we let them rot… or worse, we’re caught off guard when someone else harvests them first. Great discussion, and thanks again for sharing! Debi, Emmanuelle, May & Team: thanks for having me on the show!
Thank you so much for joining us Sara Mehrabi, it was an honour!
Fantastic presentation by yourself, Sara Mehrabi, with tangible real-life examples. Insightful. Enjoyed reading these take-aways too.
Thanks Sara Mehrabi and already looking forward to CDO & AI Nordics 2026 👀 !!
Amazing✔️
Great summary. And thanks ever so much for highlighting my session Sara!
Thank you so much for joining us at the Summit last week Sara. You insights were a vital and very welcome addition to the day! #CDOAINordicsSummit
Sara Mehrabi, thanks for sharing your take aways with us, not able to attend. Søren Wolstrup, these points are very much aligned with our latest discussion about the opportunities for companies to capitalize on 1party data
