Many credit unions are heading into strategic planning for 2025. I could probably guess several of the topics that will be discussed. · Grow deposits · Grow loans · Grow or maintain your margin · Reduce expenses · Explore AI And while all of those are probably okay, there are approximately 4,500 other credit unions and 5,000 banks doing the exact same thing. I would further argue - several of those aren't really strategic planning items. I think if credit unions really went back to their roots of being member centric (follow Samantha Paxson for more on this), credit unions would exponentially increase their relevance. The relevancy that all credit unions crave, but struggle to obtain, is simply a byproduct of meeting member needs. Being a financial institution that gives large amounts of debt on depreciating assets is a purpose. It's a need in the marketplace for sure. But I would argue that credit unions have a much greater purpose that has yet to be realized. When planning for 2025 and beyond - I would challenge credit unions to revisit their individual mission and build from there. Just my two cents. (image was generated using AI. Not bad.)

As Credit Unions with fresh budgets get ready to enter 2025, I would like to quote one of my favorite philosophers. "The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance." – Alan Watts It's Friday 🍐 #creditunions #communitybanking #fintech #innovation #digitalbanking #wealthtech

Tennessee Credit Union League CRO Highlights Strategic Tech Integration as Key to Credit Union Success “Many credit unions were initially influenced by the fintech buzz, leading to fragmented technology stacks,” said David Griffiths. “One part of the organization would buy something, and then another would buy something else. Suddenly, they’ve got five pieces of software that cost them money for integrations into the core.” Looking ahead, Griffiths stressed the importance of comprehensive digital solutions, particularly for attracting younger members. “If credit unions want to stay relevant, they must also get younger. They have to have all digital channels. This isn’t just a preference anymore; it’s becoming necessary to meet evolving consumer expectations.” https://lnkd.in/e2cUTjQ2 Steve Jensen Justice Largusa Jessica McCosh Caroline Bays Fred Robinson Geraldine Cardwell Eltropy #fintech #finance #banking #paytech #payments #fintechnews #paymentsnews
