Inaugural Director of Africana Studies, Associate Professor of History, Utica University

I wish to thank Dr. Anthony Baird, Ms. Kira Maddox from the Office of DEI and Belonging for sponsoring and facilitating last night’s lecture and conversation on “The Black Freedom Struggle for Political and Economic Justice from the Great Migration to the Late 20th Century” and the lessons it offers for today’s highly charged political environment, especially debates and systemic attacks against DEI. I am also grateful to those who attended, both in person and online, for your questions and comments. I am especially grateful for an opportunity to have seen and engaged current and former students around questions they raised. The last talk in the lecture series will take place this evening at the Beauchamp Library beginning at 5:30, 211 S. Salina Street, Syracuse. Onward!
