Our institutions and ‘leaders’ won’t save us. We are in a structural, systemic decline that is the result of decades of short-term decisions and is entirely bipartisan. The exhausting theatre will continue but it is a sideshow. This is a great opportunity. NZ is small enough that capable individuals and small groups can contribute to positive change. I see people doing this every day, in all sectors. I might disagree with them sometimes but that’s fine. Forward motion is much better than passive whinging. I think the question everyone can ask themselves daily is, ‘how will I contribute?’. Because make no mistake, there is no master plan and no secret reservoir of top-down leadership coming to help. It’s on us.
Yes no one is coming. We are very much it!
