Intriguing stat from this piece by Bryan Penprase: ASU serves 145k+ students while maintaining research excellence. They're proving you can scale access WITHOUT sacrificing academic quality. As college costs skyrocket, we need more institutions willing to reimagine the traditional model. https://lnkd.in/gdtCcwuu

We're going to see a long tail of pandemic learning loss showing up as student success and retention challenges for leaders in higher ed. Students who were in elementary school when the pandemic started are not on pace to recover by the time they reach college in the next 3-5 years. Students are arriving on campus more unprepared than ever before, and many small colleges and universities are struggling with how to identify and address these growing readiness gaps. Join EAB expert Kevin C. Clarke (and me!) virtually this Thursday 8/22 at 2-3pm ET to unpack EAB’s research around four dimensions of student readiness that institutions must prepare to address both today and across the next decade. (EAB partners - let me know if I can register you!) https://lnkd.in/eK_VRtwP

Last week, hundreds of secondary schools joined us online to explore what might be beyond the ATAR. It is clear there is great interest - from a broad range of stakeholders - in the utility of new metrics and learner profiles in tertiary admissions, and the implications for schooling should we broaden our definition of learning success at senior secondary. Want to get involved? Missed the detail? You’ll find it here ⬇️⬇️⬇️. https://lnkd.in/gSQ84vdr

There are many reasons a university may or may not be test optional. According to MIT's dean of admissions, standardized tests help the Institute’s admissions team identify and assess students from all backgrounds. Meanwhile, Purdue's vice provost for enrollment management Kris Wong states, “the evidence is clear that test scores provide essential information." Whether or not you agree with these statements, it's important to note this requirement of these highly-ranked national universities. What are your thoughts on test-optional? #collegeapplications #collegeapplicationseason #highschool #sat #application #highereducation #senior #educationmatters #onlinecourse #collegeadmissions #collegeprep #collegebound #admissions #studentsuccess #testprep #satprep #collegeready #admission #highschoolsenior #collegecounseling #collegecounselor #collegeadvice #collegeplanning #collegeapps #collegeessay #collegeapplication #collegepreparation #collegetips #applyingtocollege #collegeadvisor

Congratulations to students on their recent Early Decision II acceptances! Early Decision II is a binding college application option with a later deadline than Early Decision I, allowing students to commit to a school, if admitted, while still providing more time to finalize their decision. EDII schools that accept a significantly higher EDII percentage than Regular Decision: American University, 81% Boston College, 28% Boston University, 32% Bowdoin College, 27% Brandeis University, 56% * * * * * see cool photo below! Claremont McKenna College, 32% Harvey Mudd College, 21% Johns Hopkins University, 31% New York University, 38% Northeastern University, 51% Pomona College, 13% Tufts University, 26% University of Chicago, 23% Vanderbilt University, 18% Vassar College, 47%

College class times and instructional modes tend to cater to full-time, traditional-age students despite an increasing interest among working adult learners to secure a college degree. This Data Point examines new research that reveals community colleges exceed universities in instructional delivery formats that working adult learners seek, helping to explain why community college baccalaureate (CCB) degrees are growing in the U.S. Generously funded by Lumina Foundation , the CCBA's Data Points series spotlights key CCB facts supported by the latest national research. Student Futures 2 makes for an interesting read as it highlights the need for Universities to continually evolve transition strategies for students as they start their student journey and progress through it. Their positioning of insights connected to student profiles and needs focussed to international students, those experiencing inertia, struggling to engage or hardship ( financial or mental) will continue to challenge us to think harder about the intersection between professional services support, student information and communication and how the curriculum evolves to be more inclusive, compassionate and engaging. At CCCU we will be imminently publishing our Student Futures Manifesto co-designed with our students, our Transition, Orientation and Induction Team and Student Communications and this will be an ongoing project to review and reposition commitment to students year on year. Early-college high schools fully incorporate college course-taking into the curriculum. A recent study finds that their students attained degrees at a higher rate and faster pace than control peers, and did so for almost a decade after graduation. https://lnkd.in/eC57Swx6
