Rockwell Automation is donating $50,000 to the American Red Cross to support wildfire relief efforts in and around Los Angeles, California. Rockwell funds will support the American Red Cross network and their work to provide emergency shelter, relief supplies, and meals, and to assist with rescue efforts. Link to full story in comments.

Today, during a meeting of the Waller County Commissioners Court, we announced the donation of a backup generator to the Waller County Office of Emergency Management as part of our Community Generator Donation Program. Through the new program, the CenterPoint Energy Foundation will donate funds for 21 backup generators which will help make the communities we serve even more resilient during major storms and other emergency events. It is a critical time to address the impact of high heat on individuals, families and communities across the state, particularly for those struggling financially to address and adapt to the record-breaking temperatures. Wildfire is here to help. Governor Hobbs' order also directed state agencies to develop a comprehensive heat plan and advocate for more federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funding. As a community action agency that connects low-income households with resources, Wildfire will do everything we can to support Governor Hobbs bringing more LIHEAP money into the state. "The program was initially designed to help cold-weather communities keep residents heated in the winter, but it has evolved to become an important resource for air conditioning assistance in hot summers, said Wildfire Executive Director, Kelly McGowan. Wildfire will match community donations up to $500,000 in donations to repair and replace HVAC units for qualifying low-income individuals at no cost to them -- bringing the total raise to $1,000,000. The more we are able to raise in donations, the greater the impact we can make. The Corsi-Rosenthal Foundation is a tax-exempt 501(c)3 nonprofit organization (EIN: 35-2779639). Our goal is to provide cleaner air in school and other public buildings with particular interest in underserved and/or vulnerable communities. We do this largely through financial grants, materials, or a combination of the two to build Corsi-Rosenthal boxes (CR Boxes). The Corsi-Rosenthal Foundation is run by consensus of a Board of Directors. All Board members are volunteers and receive no salary. As such, 100% of donations go directly to grantees for cleaning the air for their communities. No donations are used to purchase materials from companies affiliated with any Board members. Donations come in two forms: (1) individuals or corporations can make a financial donation, or (2) filter manufacturers and other companies can donate filters, fans or duct tape which are provided to grantees for assembling CR Boxes. While the Foundation is young and ramping up activities, we are proud to have allocated resources to build CR Boxes in schools/school districts and veterans centers in Mississippi, Kentucky, Arizona, Washington DC, and more.
