Media carrying news of LabHost criminal website service being disrupted. Set up in 2021 designed to enable the creation of phishing websites. Users were able to clone trusted brands. Intelligence from the Cyber Defence Alliance in June 2022 led to investigate work by the Metropolitan Police - which extended to bring in the National Crime Agency (NCA), City of London Police, Europol and regional crime units. Industry partners in the investigation included Chainalysis, Intel 471, Microsoft, Trend Micro and The Shadowserver Foundation. 37 suspects arrested across the U.K. and by international law enforcement between 14-17 April, and then a takedown of the infrastructure on the 17th. Overall some 40,000 fraudulent sites created by 2,000 users - all paying a monthly subscription (between £200-£300 a month for a worldwide membership). The operators made just under a £1 million from their operations. 800 users of site were notified that the Met knew of their use of LabHost and that they would be the subject of investigation. Just under 70,000 UK victims identified as entering their details into fraudulent sites - globally that’s 480,000 cards and 64,000 PIN numbers. Great collaboration - another insight into the operation of the criminal underground. #cyber #cybersecurity
