Big changes are coming to X (formerly Twitter)!🚀 X is making post likes private for all users to counter potential negative connotations associated with users’ interests. This initiative aims to protect users from public judgment, allowing them to interact more freely without fear of retaliation or damaging their public image. The platform has confirmed this test, stating that public likes often incentivize the wrong behavior. By making likes private, X hopes to foster more genuine engagement and enhance its algorithm's ability to recommend content based on users’ actual interests. This move could significantly alter user interaction dynamics on the platform, creating a more authentic and safe environment for expressing preferences. Here are some key clarifications about this change: 🔥 You will be able to see who liked your posts. 🔥 You can see the like count for all posts/replies/etc. 🔥 You cannot see who liked someone else’s post. 🔥 You cannot see others’ “Liked” tab on their profile. What do you think about this change? Will it make X a better place for authentic interaction? Let's discuss! 💬 #SocialMedia #TechNews #UserEngagement #TwitterUpdates #DigitalSafety #marketing #stepup

Yes, Doctorow is right. We shouldn't sign up for services with no fire exits. The appeal of a Bluesky, though, is that it *feels* like a pre-enshittified Twitter, which is lure enough for many of us - myself included, because apparently I need to learn lessons over and over before they'll sink in. Doctorow includes a few prerequisites for investing time and effort in social networking, including those fire exits. I'd like to add to those and refine them a bit: 1) Curated, not algorithmic - The content you see shouldn't be based on algorithms that seek engagement. It should be based on hand-curated sources. 2) Acoustic guitars, no amplifiers - Algos are not the only way for negativity to grow unchecked. Bots are a big part of this, too. I'm seeing a lot more evidence of bots on Bluesky. We need enforcement of "one person, one account." 3) Portability needs to extend to self-hosting. If you feel strongly enough about being the product, the inevitable end is to self-host your connections and data. Whatever comes next needs to make this easy, like having people on residential-speed connections being able to host themselves, family and a few friends if they so choose.

💙 I had a verified blue check on Twitter 🐦 (before Elon’s X days). Now? Let’s just say things have changed! 💼 While the value of a blue check may be up for debate, each platform still offers some perks for being verified: • LinkedIn: Increased visibility and credibility in your professional network. • Instagram: Access to features like linking in posts, better reach, and impersonation protection. • X (Twitter): Exclusive features like editing tweets, priority rankings, and extended content creation tools. • Facebook: Additional insights and direct customer service for verified users. Do you think the blue check still holds any value? 💭 What's your thoughts! 👇 #SocialMedia #DigitalMarketing #Verification #BlueCheck #FridayFun #MarketingMeme #Meme

One million users in 24 Hours: Do we have a new social network in town? Or is it just yet another social network? On November 15th, Bluesky Social—a platform that looks like a cousin of X—achieved a major milestone: 1 million new users joined in a single day. This brings Bluesky’s total user count to 16 million, a massive leap for a platform that opened to the public less than a year ago. But what’s driving this surge? Bluesky began as an experiment under Twitter in 2019 but became its own company in 2021. Now led by Jay Graber, the platform offers familiar features much like what X does - short posts, media sharing, and direct messaging. But here’s the difference - AT Protocol. It's an open-source framework allowing for greater transparency and customization. This is something where x has lost its battle already. One of the key features of BlueSky is custom feeds, which let users create and pin personalized timelines based on their interests. And if you think this isn’t a big deal here’s what Mark Zuckerberg posted on Threads - “Starting to test a new way to create dedicated feeds for your favorite topics and profiles. Enjoy!” Link to Mark's post -> https://lnkd.in/dZ9HNWGq We know it is indeed a big deal when Mark decides to clone something. Also, as an experiment a user Andrew Dessler posted the same post to Twitter and BlueSky and surprisingly got 10 times more engagement on the newbie platform. Link to Andrew's post -> https://lnkd.in/dgt7YmEU Bluesky’s rise signals a shift in what users want from social platforms - privacy and meaningful interactions. But are these problems big enough to be solved and get visibility against the giants? Only time will tell. PS: I made an account yesterday. I'll be seeing how this goes. --- 👋 Hi, I'm Aniket 👨💻 A product manager turned ghostwriter 📈 I ghostwrite short-form content for busy European CEOs and Founders 📩 Book an introductory call - https://lnkd.in/dd7PjZwq

What if you woke up tomorrow and you could no longer access any of your social media? LinkedIn connections - gone. Instagram content - gone. Your marketing channel - gone. This is exactly what happened when X (aka Twitter) was blocked in Brazil late last month. The initial reaction was one of shock - it’s not every day you see a government follow through on threats to shut down a major social media platform. As expected, many users quickly migrated to alternative platforms like Bluesky and Threads. (For context: within days of the ban, a whopping 2 million users had joined Bluesky) Even if you’re an architect or designer who doesn’t regularly use X, this news impacts you more than you think. Why? It’s a stark reminder that while social media platforms are powerful tools for visibility and engagement, you don’t actually ‘own’ your audience on these platforms. This is why it’s critical to diversify your marketing efforts, so you’re not overly reliant on one platform. We look at ways you can diversify your marketing efforts, and also, how you can back up your data and contacts on your platforms! Read the article here > https://lnkd.in/gfjtC-28
