The World is facing a Polycrisis future. New environmental & social threats continue to arise across the planet. As individuals, we have a conscience, but as we are about delivery, not policy, our objectives are decided for, not by us. We do our bit in the way we deliver, not what we deliver. However, expectations from our stakeholders are changing. Many purchasing organisations now ask questions about supplier's environmental & social (E&S) activity. Organisations are implementing environmental & social governance (ESG). We are starting to do more of the right things where they give us financial benefit. Unfortunately, not all E&S activity has a financial case. Some of the E&S constraints on how we do things can fall by the wayside when seeking more return. The answer is to lift our E&S thinking into Business Purpose. What are the organisation's "worldviews" & what do we want to drive into business strategy? As this level, the driver for our organisation's contribution to the sustainable wellbeing for all of humanity has a hope of some priority & not getting tactically ditched. This means we must be able to drive strategy effectively. However, evidentially, we are poor at strategy delivery. We can't easily balance performance today, value creation for tomorrow, & change for the future. (find out more - https://lnkd.in/eTtivBze) Therefore, we will be presenting a vision that combines: - the standards for Purpose Driven Organisations (PAS 808) which defines the necessity to uplift our attitude to ESG. (find out more - https://lnkd.in/etR3jfAR) - the Business Integrated Governance Framework which enables the definition, development and delivery of strategy across business as usual, value creation and change - within which projects can receive their objectives and priority. (find out more - https://lnkd.in/edHYRaCS) So - unfortunately - the path to a resilient world is not going to be achieved just through individuals getting a conscience. We need to help our organisations work the right way by putting E&S goals into our strategy, not just tactically sprinkling them on top & expecting project managers to perform magic. Join us as part of the PMI PM4THEWORLD conference at our presentation on October 10th, 3.10pm GMT. Alex Shapley and I will argue that the P3 community - with our support offices - is a great place to build from to enable our purpose driven organisation to actually drive its purpose. "It is time to revisit the fundamentals of business and sustainability. Despite decades of corporate commitments and innovation, the massive flow of capital into clean technologies, and the significant and growing body of evidence of the economic benefits of swift action, the sustainability crisis is deepening. While the roll-out of solutions is impressive, we are failing to keep pace with the scale of the problem and trends on climate and nature continue to head in the wrong direction. It is time to recognise that the market has failed to deliver at the pace required and there is no realistic prospect that, without much deeper structural changes, market forces will ‘bend the curve’ and protect the social and environmental foundations on which society - and businesses - depend." Standards and regulations create new opportunities - this time sustainability and business opportunities on the eve of 2025. The Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) recently officially launched an inaugural set Canadian Sustainability Disclosure Standards (CSDSs). These standards are designed to enhance transparency, comparability, and decision-making across Canadian organizations, and in doing so, create opportunities for companies to elevate their existing sustainability work, or use this opportunity to evolve or transform their business for impact and for growth. The CSSB plans will be using webinars to share this work, with a strategic plan set to be released for public comment in 2025. Thanks to Joanna Buczkowska-McCumber of Ideas for Impact Sustainability Agency for raising this story. Learn more here: FRASCanada.ca/CSSB How can your business use emerging standards for new opportunity to scale success and impact? As investors, how can you use these standard to align to your investment and impact theses? #Sustainability #techforgood #businessforgood #ImpactReporting #ESG #SustainableBusiness
