Two weeks ago, an extraordinary group of design professionals and industry practitioners convened in Singapore as part of the judging process for the #PresidentsDesignAward (P*DA) — our nation’s highest honour for design across all disciplines. What they had to do was no small feat: evaluating groundbreaking submissions that push the boundaries to shape a better future by design. The auditorium at National Design Centre saw plenty of spirited discussions. Beyond these confines, these global and local design leaders generously shared their time and expertise by engaging in vital conversations with the industry. These include a sold-out jurors’ forum on social impact, inclusivity, urban innovation and sustainability, and a masterclass on the future of healthcare at Tan Tock Seng Hospital's Centre for Healthcare Innovation. They also explored the idea of a National Design Collection with National Heritage Board on how we document and celebrate design legacies. Young designers had the opportunity to connect with the jurors over a meal. The international jurors also experienced Singapore’s approach to designing vibrant, multicultural neighborhoods in Kampong Gelam where they visited the Ramadan bazaar. Thank you once again Dr Hossein Rezai, Ar. Soo Khian Chan, Kotchakorn Voraakhom, Dr Jeff Hou, Dr Patricia Moore, Ar. Kok Hiang Tan, Voon Wong, Welby Altidor, Kelley Cheng, Michela Magas, Dr Wong Sweet Fun, Sylvester Timothy Wong, Maria Nicanor, Lynette Pang and Peter Murray OBE. It’s been inspiring to see your dedication, sharp perspectives and belief in the power of design to transform lives up close. #DesignSingaporeCouncil #Designimpact Photos by: Gan Jia Jun
