Ever feel like no matter how hard you try, you’re just not the leader your church needs? You’re not alone. Ministry leadership comes with impossible expectations. But the good news is, God doesn’t call perfect leaders—He calls faithful ones. In my latest blog post, I explore how to overcome leadership inadequacy by: ✅ Acknowledging your weaknesses. ✅ Growing in areas of struggle. ✅ Surrounding yourself with complementary people. Leadership isn’t about doing it all. It’s about leaning on God’s grace and building a team that strengthens your ministry. Read "What If You’re Not the Leader Your Church Needs? (And How to Fix It)" today: [Link in comments]

Is your church leadership team diverse in thought and perspective? It’s tempting to pick people who think just like we do—people who are easy to talk to and who support our ideas. But is this really helping us grow? Abraham Lincoln knew the value of having a team of challengers, not just supporters. In my latest blog, I explore how church leaders can avoid the “echo chamber effect” and build a team that strengthens and expands their leadership. It takes courage, but here’s what you can do to get started: ✅ Be intentional about diversity ✅ Ask the hard questions ✅ Cultivate respectful disagreement Take a look at “Want to Lead Better? Stop Surrounding Yourself with People Just Like You” to see how a dynamic team can benefit your ministry and your church.

If you do not learn how to serve faithfully, you will not know how to lead properly. P.S. Service is not something you do only for the people above you. Leadership is not something you do only for the people below you.

Before you lead anyone else you must be able to lead yourself well. You don’t need followers to be a leader. But if you lead well, you will activate that self leadership and beyond in others.

Always remember. Leaders can speak to how they made people FEEL, what they did for others, who they developed… how and why. If you want that leadership role, your technical capabilities are far outweighed by your proven ability to teach, train, mentor and effectively delegate with a follow up call to action. Doing your job well is boss energy. Empowering a team to do their job well is leader energy. Get out there and help someone flourish today.

Leadership is hard, which is why so few people excel at it. It’s about so much more than getting people to listen to you. Good leadership is about managing your burdens well while being willing to sacrifice for others. Understanding the cost of leadership will help you become someone worth following.

Did you know the Greek word for servant is diakonos? That word is where we get the English word Deacon from and I’m pretty sure you know what a deacon is in a church. Deacons are considered special leaders in a church. So that Greek word that we translate as Deacon actually means servant and that’s what a real leader is. People don’t serve leaders leaders serve people. Kamala Harris is a really good example of that. Really good leaders are also great listeners. Once you stop listening to others see what happens when people stop following you or even wanting to be around you regardless of what leadership title you have. This is an opinion this is fact. Learn to lead by example by first learning to listen to others. When you make other people feel listen to they will follow you anywhere you lead them.
