OPINIONS WANTED This is a random scenario. Freakily similar to real life scenarios that happen frequently in recruiting. Here we go: Client: Company A Company A is looking for an RN. Company A is a pediatric clinic. RN must be experienced in nursing, have a good personality, and have at least 3 years of pediatric experience. Candidate A: RN for 20 years Great personality Grandmother - loves kids Worked in hospital so interactions with pediatrics but not solely pediatrics Candidate turned down after one interview. Reason? Not enough pediatric experience. My Opinion: Personally I would have said that an RN with 20 years can adapt. Its a grandmother - she knows the deal. Ridiculous? Or is it just me? Please... Let me know in the comments. #recruiting #jobhunting #jobsearch #recruitment #HR #linkedin #hiring #openings #jobvacancy #jobhunters #talentacquisition

Entry for Week 1 as a 100-level Nursing Student on a Voluntary Posting. . . . I started Voluntary posting a week ago at ALIMOSHO GENERAL HOSPITAL, Igando. The posting is to run from now till School resumes. My primary objective before resumption is to learn practical Nursing procedures like Vital sign reading, Wound dressing, Bedmaking, Drug Administration, and every other basic thing a Student Nurse should know. I resumed the Pediatrics ward, and plan to work on other wards periodically. Most People suggested that I switch to the A&E - Accident and Emergency ward soon. This is because there are more conditions there that require Nursing Procedures. I am still considering that option. I can take Vital signs without supervision. I learned Bedmaking for Occupied and unoccupied beds. I can discontinue and adminster drips. I am no longer scared of needles because I witness daily how Doctors set lines for Patients using Canular. If I want my Patient to heal, I have to do the best thing for them as a Nurse. I learned how to record vital readings on the Hospital site for documentation. I learned the stages of treatment — See the patient, Investigation, Diagnosis, and Prescription or Admission for close monitoring. I was taught the Drug Administration and the 6Rs of Drug Administration. That's just a summary of all I learned in my first week. P.S - What stood out for you most? #lifeofanursingstudent
