I am pleased to announce that Eco Wave Power (Nasdaq Capital Market: WAVE) has entered an agreement with a major energy company (full name can be seen in the Company’s recent 20-F report) to participate in the development of Eco Wave Power’s first project in the United States. Recently, we announced that we have conducted a comprehensive feasibility study, with the same major energy company, aimed at identifying the top locations for commercial onshore wave energy stations along the U.S. coastline and worldwide. The three-month, in-depth feasibility study which now has been completed, has shown favorable conditions for clean energy production in multiple locations in the U.S. and globally. In the study, Eco Wave Power has pointed out to at least 77 sites in the U.S. which may be compatible for the implementation of the Eco Wave Power technology. Harnessing the power of ocean waves is a crucial step in reshaping the renewable energy landscape to meet the net-zero goals we must reach if we want to save our planet. In partnership with local start-up VAWT-X Energy Australia Pty Ltd, Flinders University is trialling a cutting-edge vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) prototype on the Fleurieu Peninsula. Backed by private equity and government funding, this 6kW turbine could revolutionise how we harness wind power. The design, based on the Darrieus VAWT model, offers exciting potential. Unlike traditional horizontal axis turbines, these turbines are quieter and better suited to areas with variable wind directions, making them ideal for urban and residential applications. “We believe our VAWTs are not only more efficient but also more accessible for applications like off-grid power and sustainable energy solutions for small businesses and farms,” said Gary Andrews, founder of VAWT-X Energy. While challenges such as drag caused by blades rotating into the wind remain, the team at Flinders University and VAWT-X Energy is optimistic about addressing these issues. The new turbine design aims to overcome longstanding aerodynamic hurdles, paving the way for improved performance. This technology could have far-reaching benefits for Australia’s wind industry. Projections suggest VAWTs could offer greater stability for offshore applications while being more economical to operate.
