🎉 Congratulations to our researchers Javier Jorge Vázquez and Sergio Luis Nañez Alonso for their recent publication in the prestigious Journal of Cleaner Production! 🌍📘 Their study, in collaboration with the Krakow University of Economics (Poland), analyzes the impact of EU #ClimatePolicy and #EnergyTransition on #Poland and #Spain. The research shows that the EU's common energy policy has accelerated the diversification of the energy mix, increasing the share of renewable and low-carbon sources. By gathering the contributions of leading experts in the field, it delves into some underlying economic factors that are unlikely to change in the short-to-medium term, emphasizing the economic consequences and trade-offs of the technological solutions currently available. This book provides Multidisciplinary Perspectives from Economics, Politics, and Energy Studies Written by academics, practitioners and policy-makers, this handbook is a valuable and timely addition to the literature on international energy economics. #energy #economics #energytransition #lowcarbon 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀. Recent study by IOBE - Ίδρυμα Οικονομικών και Βιομηχανικών Ερευνών (FEIR) about public attitutes to green transition and renewables in Greece. Quite interesting as identifies a major contradiction: 91% worries about climate change (slide 9) and 90% of people say they make sure their daily behaviour is friendly to the environment and the climate (slide 14), but 73% is against wind turbines (slide 15) and 42% believe that RES harm rather than help the environment (slide 18). Conclusion: we have a lot of work to do, probably education and not PR! It is quick to read the presentation in the link (further interesting facts) and the full study is also available. Great to see that the Energy Efficiency Guide 2024 will be presented at the Young Energy Researchers Conference 2025 on 4 March 2025 in Wels/Austria. The conference presents the work and achievements of young energy efficiency researchers from all over the world. Kerstin L. from Forschungsinstitut für Wärmeschutz e.V. München (FIW München) has made the way through to the agenda. Well deserved! The study outlines how #energyefficiency #renovation contributes to #sustainability and #decarbonization, to mitigate #energypoverty, to enable #affordablehousing whilst increasing #livingcomfort, etc. 👉 https://lnkd.in/enjg_F-D

In economics, the Jevons paradox (/ˈdʒɛvənz/; sometimes Jevons effect) occurs when technological progress increases the efficiency with which a resource is used (reducing the amount necessary for any one use), but the falling cost of use induces increases in demand enough that resource use is increased, rather than reduced. Governments, both historical and modern, typically expect that energy efficiency gains will lower energy consumption, rather than expecting the Jevons paradox. https://lnkd.in/ejP_q6Jb
