SHOULD WE BE WORRIED ABOUT U.S. STOCK MARKETS ? "...Men worry more about what they can't see, than about what they can..." - Julius Caesar The log chart below, courtesy of Bloomberg, shows 100Y of the SPX Index. Of note is the extension of the trend line joining prior highs from 1929 and 2000, comes in at close to today’s levels ! This is one definitely to watch ! - Of note is that on many models of equity valuation eg CAPE10, or the Buffet Model, U.S. equity valuations are at similar historic extremes as well. - Valuations are very useful over the longer term, but hopeless for market timings. - Technical analysis can be more useful for the latter. This would suggest we look at the Xmas / NY period with more scrutiny. Contact us if you would like to discuss these findings and their implications in greater detail. Or 'follow us' at METRICA Consulting to help you 'Untangle Financial Markets'. Wishing you ‘Good Fortunes’.
