Equities are crucial in a portfolio for potential growth and diversification. Despite market volatility, they offer opportunities for significant returns, especially in emerging markets like India, which show resilience and low correlation with global peers. Staying invested and active in equities can help mitigate risks and capitalize on positive earnings surprises.

Despite the sharp market selloff, our CIOs maintain their conviction on #equities. Emerging Market equities, especially India stocks have shown resilience amidst global uncertainties . In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Hiren Dasani, CFA , co-head of emerging markets equity points to the strong earnings of Indian companies. #Indiaequities also have low correlation with global peers due to the domestic-driven growth. While #Japanequities have taken a strong initial hit due to concerns over a strong Yen, a strengthening local currency bodes well for quality stocks. The economic fundamentals in Japan have not changed and in fact, we have seen positive earnings surprises in the last quarter. Companies are also stepping up on governance and accelerating the unwinding of cross shareholdings. I was in Japan about a month ago and from my conversations, domestic investors are excited over the prospects for both public and private markets.
