Last week, during token2049, we hosted Shared Privacy Symposium, and we were honored to have Ryan Zurrer as a speaker. Ryan is a legendary figure in our space. He invested in all major outcomes, co-founded Polychain, and created SAFT. Instead of a 15-minute privacy panel, we had a one-hour conversation with him about crypto values and their place worldwide. It was one of the most fascinating conversations we've ever hosted. Here are the takeaways from Ryan: - Ryan was born in Canada and then spent time in the US and Switzerland. Defining someone based on the country of birth or the language of conversation no longer makes sense. With crypto, we are making this dependency arise, enabling one of the most important freedoms - financial, to happen. - High FDV CEX optimization has led us to a state of no community for great projects. This has to change, and we will have an ICO 2.0 era where the community drives the projects to success. - Big enough means that you have an opportunity to fight. That's what each protocol should be willing to achieve. - For privacy tech, it's important to balance regulation and privacy by filtering the users who can access the tech. - Privacy isn't enough to justify privacy-enabled blockchains. Public blockchains with privacy enabled via the application layer are the way to go. Thank you Ryan Zurrer, for a phenomenal panel making everyone excited about the future of crypto and privacy.

Increasing onchain privacy is critical for expanding into real-world use cases like financial accounts and minimizing MEV. Though ZK offers strong privacy guarantees, it does not allow multiple parties to interact with the same private state, limiting expressivity, and fully homomorphic encryption limits the strength of privacy guarantees. Multi-party computation (MPC) allows for programmable infrastructure with a shared private state without a single point of failure. Its main challenges are communication overhead and the potential for offchain collusion. #crypto #web3 https://lnkd.in/gc59TuKj

Blockchain Voting: A Secure, Accessible Future for Democracy? In the 2024 U.S. presidential election, over 16 million fewer ballots were cast than in 2020, highlighting the need to increase voter participation. What if voting could be more accessible, private, and secure—all while ensuring a backup for every vote? Despite concerns regarding security vulnerabilities in mobile implementations from past pilot programs, Blockchain offers a powerful foundation for this vision. Its decentralized, tamper-resistant nature could make voting more trustworthy and accessible. Some key features include: • Enhanced Security: Blockchain’s immutability ensures each vote is securely recorded and remains unaltered. • Privacy Guaranteed: Cryptographic techniques can keep each vote anonymous. • Convenience & Accessibility: A mobile-based voting platform could remove barriers to participation, especially for younger voters. To strengthen security and integrity, we could add: 1. Printed Ballot Archives for Backup Imagine a system where, after voting, a printed copy is automatically stored securely. This creates a backup in case blockchain becomes unavailable. 2. AI-Powered Secure Receipts Voters receive a secure receipt by mail or electronically, with obfuscated data in a QR code. Scanning it lets voters verify their recorded ballot reflects their choices. These layers would enhance trust and tackle security and privacy issues seen in other blockchain voting pilots. Key to achieving this vision are: • Stronger Cryptographic Protocols: Advanced techniques keep voting data secure and private. • Rigorous Testing and Audits: Regular testing and third-party audits safeguard the system. • Transparent Voter Education: Clear info on data, privacy, and security will empower confident participation. With these innovations, blockchain voting could offer a secure, accessible, and verifiable voting experience—one that revives democratic engagement and provides a backup for emergencies. #Blockchain #Voting #Innovation #SecureVoting #FutureOfDemocracy

"It would be wrong to think of Cypherpunks as a formal group. It's more a gathering of those who share a predilection for codes, a passion for privacy, and the gumption to do something about it. Anyone who decides to spread personal crypto or its gospel is a traveler in the territory of Cypherpunk." — Steven Levy Lets step into 1993 and revisit the influential article that ignited the cypherpunk movement, sparking a war for control of digital privacy. Three decades on, have the warnings of the past become today's reality? What's changed, and what's still at stake? We're diving into the origins of the crypto revolution to explore its impact on our future, and the question remains: Have we made any real progress towards the cypherpunks' dream of a digital world where our freedom and privacy are truly our own? 👀 Trust will be the most valuable asset of the next decade. What we build today will define what’s possible tomorrow. 🔒 Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKP) are among the most disruptive technologies in blockchain today. This is not just about cryptography or technical innovation—this is about how ZKP can transform businesses, governments, and, most importantly, people’s lives. Recently, I explored the ZK Secret Santa protocol, a practical application of ZKP. While the context may seem playful, what I saw was a solution capable of redefining digital interactions, solving critical challenges of privacy, transparency, and fairness like never before. Now, imagine this: What if we could validate any information—from identity to financial transactions—without exposing sensitive data? That’s the power of ZKP. Here are the most relevant real-world examples of how this technology is already making an impact. 🚀 1. Real-World Use Cases with Immediate Impact • Privacy in Financial Transactions: ZKP enables secure financial transactions while ensuring regulatory compliance (KYC/AML) without disclosing unnecessary details. Think about how this could revolutionize global financial access. • Secure Digital Voting: Electoral processes and organizational decisions can become more trustworthy with anonymous yet verifiable votes, boosting participation and eliminating fraud. • Fair Distribution of Resources and Assets: Whether in social programs or private sectors, ZKP ensures that resources reach the right people without compromising anyone’s privacy. • Automated Compliance: Companies can streamline regulatory processes by validating critical data—like age or income—without revealing full details, reducing costs and risks. • Private Auctions: Participants can bid anonymously and fairly, breaking trust barriers and encouraging wider participation. • Education and Certification: ZKP-based digital certificates validate qualifications reliably, eliminating fraud and fostering trust in the job market. 2. Why Are ZKP the Future of Business? We are entering the era of the trust economy. Companies that adopt ZKP can: • Protect their customers like never before. • Reduce regulatory costs with automated compliance processes. • Innovate in new markets where privacy is a competitive advantage. Ultimately, this is not just about blockchain or technology—it’s about building a safer world where transparency and privacy coexist. Working daily with blockchain and technology, I develop solutions for complex markets. To me, ZKP is more than just a technology—it’s a paradigm shift. It has the power to transform industries such as finance, education, and governance, bringing tangible impacts to companies and individuals alike.
