A U.S. bill to establish its regulatory regime for digital assets will be passed? A new bill on U.S. digital assets regulations is scheduled for a floor vote next week in the House of Representatives, per a CoinDesk report. The Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act (so called FTI21 Act) has been, reportedly, authorized for floor time next week, where observers are hoping to see a mid-week vote. A few noteworthy points included in the bill, per the report: - The bill would set CFTC as a leading regulator of digital assets. - It sets out clear divisions for what the CFTC will handle and what would fall under the reach of SEC. - It would establish consumer protections – including rules around custody of customers' assets and their treatment in bankruptcy – and set up further guardrails against risky behavior. It looks like a number of industry organizations and companies are supporting the bill, per the report. Given the influential size of US digital assets market and its impact on the global market, it is likely to wield significant influence over other regions and countries if the bill is eventually enacted in some form after the legislative process.
