On 1st March, Healthcare Innovation Consortium turns four. Wow. Four years ago, HIC officially launched, but the idea had been forming long before - years of seeing how things could be better, countless “what if” conversations and a belief that digital transformation in healthcare shouldn’t just be a buzzword but a reality. Fast forward to today: we’re not standing still - we’re growing, evolving and proving there’s a different way. A way that prioritises action over bureaucracy, collaboration over competition and real impact over empty promises. Looking back, it’s hard to put into words just how much has happened. The early days were a whirlwind - pitching, writing proposals at all hours, taking meetings at odd times (and in odd places!) and figuring it out as we went. Winning our first projects, securing key partnerships and gaining momentum was exhilarating and daunting. Year one was survival-establishing ourselves, getting the right people, proving we were more than just a name. Year two was building - solidifying relationships, taking on bigger challenges, cementing our reputation. Year three brought new heights and hurdles - growth, change, expansion and tough lessons. Year four? Change. Change in the team, projects and how we work. Change is never easy, but through it all, the commitment of those who make HIC what it is has never wavered. We’ve worked with forward-thinking organisations, shaped digital strategies, supported transformation and played a role in exciting sector developments. This year has been about partnerships - cementing relationships with providers, ICSs, health innovators. About events-hosting summits, leading discussions, being in the room where decisions are made. About delivering high-stakes work - helping health systems navigate change and ensuring technology truly works. But most of all, it’s been a year of learning. Every challenge has taught us something and every success reinforced why we do this. HIC has never been about one person. It’s a collective-brilliant, passionate people making a difference. The team today is exceptional and every single person-past and present-has shaped this company. A special thank you to Charlotte, who was fundamental in shaping our foundations. To the team (Andrew, Blaithín, Sol, all) thank you for taking a leap of faith. To our clients and partners, thank you for trusting us. Every late-night call, last-minute bid, challenge and win-it’s all noticed and appreciated. So, what next? More growth. More impact. More pushing boundaries. We’re not just continuing-we’re evolving. Four years in and HIC is still driven by the same belief: digital transformation in healthcare isn’t just about technology-it’s about people and patients. If this past year reinforced anything, it’s that persistence pays off. The journey hasn’t always been smooth, but it’s always been worth it. Here’s to more lessons, challenges and opportunities-and to everything still to come in year five and beyond.
