Reading this feature from Nikkei, honestly, makes me feel a bit anxious about AI's impact on Japan's anime industry. It's tough for creatives to adapt AI trends. There's a real psychological struggle in figuring out how to work alongside AI. On the other hand, the mobile generation seems to prefer quick, easy-to-digest content, which makes me worry that those deep, touching stories might get lost. Does AI provide businesses with advantages at the expense of their employees? Toys"R"Us partnered with OpenAI, making a bold statement at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity by premiering a 66-second, completely AI-generated advertisement to the ad world's elite. The message was loud and clear: Generative AI, particularly the OpenAI generative video technology known as Sora, is ready for commercial use. However, writer and Emmy-nominated comedian Mike Drucker isn't impressed, suggesting that Toys"R"Us only succeeded in demonstrating its disregard for artists and the creative process. As a marketing professional, I find myself torn. On one hand, I consider this a genius move by Toys"R"Us—all the extra publicity at no cost is smart.
