If you've ever faced the distressing situation of having your intimate images manipulated and threatened to be shared online, there's a solution. Meta has launched an initiative called StopNCII. Here's how it works: - Submit your original and edited photos at https://www.stopncii.org/. - They will remove the edited photo from all online platforms without disclosing your identity. AI advancements have led to the rise of deepfakes, posing a threat to online security. By spreading awareness and utilizing resources like StopNCII, we can combat deepfake proliferation. Remember, be cautious about sharing personal data online, especially concerning children's information. Stay vigilant and protect your digital footprint. #AI #Deepfakes #OnlineSecurity

Ask yourself: Are your photo backups *actually* private? 🔒 Privacy pioneer and advocate Naomi Brockwell explores the dangers of using default Apple and Google photo backups, recommending Nextcloud as a top go-to solution to keep your photos private. In a world where your cloud-connected content is scanned, searched, and in some instances even sold to train AI models, it's important to ask, "Where IS my data, exactly, and what's happening to it?" In 2015, the net hadn’t quite maxed out its credit on “getting weirder”. Along came another TLD for domain nerds & internet trolls to rally around. The ol’ .sucks extension, because sometimes….a .com doesn’t really cut it. But, what actually happened to theses pieces of digital real-estate? Did they meet the initial hype, or fizzle out like a piece of BBQ charcoal simmering in its own ashes? As exciting as the launch of .sucks was for some, it put others into a bit of a tailspin. Companies and celebs moved fast to protect their brands from potential defamation, and, the price wasn’t cheap – .sucks domains started at $2,500 bucks a pop (per year) just to to lock them down. .Sucks was originally introduced by Vox Populi Registry – specifically, a guy named John Berard who was bullish on the net and believed strongly in free speech. Berard thought that .sucks could be used creatively by companies as a domain hack to redirect complaints or criticisms to their “official” websites. He also believed that .sucks was an avenue for people to exercise free speech – to air their grievances, voice their opinions, and engage in spirited debates. But, that wasn’t everyone’s perspective. The launch of .sucks wasn’t exactly greeted with open arms and confetti. People felt like .sucks domains were an avenue for creating a negative sentiment towards individuals and brands. Who wants to wake up to find out that <YourName>.sucks is now a thing? Soon after .sucks launched, big-co’s like Apple, Facebook and Microsoft scrambled to buy their .sucks domains to avoid potential PR disasters. Even the Chicago Blackhawks got on the bandwagon. But, many companies argued that Vox Populi was essentially holding their brands ransom, forcing them to purchase domains. ICANN got involved and questioned if .sucks domains were being used for exploitation. After reviewing the case, the FTC determined that Vox Populi didn’t break any rules, and .sucks domains lived to see another day. By 2021, .sucks domains peaked at just over 13,000 registrations. Since then, the numbers have decreased steadily and significantly. As of June 2024, there are only 7,862 .sucks domains registered, and it’s pretty apparent that the TLD seems to have lost its luster. But, there are still a handful of companies and people holding on to these domains to keep them active – a few of which include: • Facebook.sucks • Seattle.sucks • Homework.sucks So, does .sucks even matter anymore? Well, it depends who you ask. Our take – not really. Berard is still quite vocal about their value. The initial media hype wasn’t met with demand and it doesn’t seem like .sucks took off in the way that Berard had hoped. Next time you’re frustrated with a service or want to share a laugh, remember that .sucks domains make the internet a slightly more entertaining place. If you know of any .sucks domains, give us a nudge ;) For the full story, checkout the Snagged blog! https://lnkd.in/gjQVE5jv

Today, I’m excited to announce another MAJOR STEP FORWARD FOR ECHOMARK – the launch of forensic watermarking for images. As businesses grow more reliant on visual content, the need for robust data protection is greater than ever. Our revolutionary new solution brings the advanced AI-driven protection we’ve pioneered for text in emails and documents into the visual realm. With invisible watermarks that are personalized for each recipient, we’re giving organizations the power to trace, track, and protect their most sensitive images from unauthorized copying even from mobile phone cameras. This is an important step in our mission to empower businesses to share their critical content with confidence. Ultimately, EchoMark will help bring privacy back to organizations by enabling ALL types of information to be forensically watermarked. I'm incredibly proud of the work our team has done to make this possible and eager to see the impact it will have across industries. #ImageWatermarking #DataProtection #Steganography #insiderrisk #dlp #datalossprevention David Wong Tatianna Harris Chad Voss Zachary Lewis Rhonda Edwards Sanjay Krishnan Clayton Huthwaite Colin Saunders Stephen Lewis Bianamara Parker Beck Greg Young Andi Fein Brandon Martin Adrian Avram Henry Serr https://lnkd.in/gUvacnJg
