Metrolinx GO Lakeshore East Rail Corridor We’re thrilled to showcase our latest contribution to the Lakeshore East rail corridor, the second busiest Metrolinx GO rail line. To accommodate the addition of a new fourth track, key bridges at Danforth Avenue, Warden Avenue, and Woodbine Avenue were being widened and reinforced. InGeo Design played a pivotal role in this project by designing the micropile retention systems and soldier pile and lagging systems for these crucial crossings. Our expertise ensured the integrity and stability of the infrastructure through precise tieback stressing and comprehensive overnight shoring installation observation. We also supported our client’s submission to Metrolinx ensuring strict compliance with Metrolinx and AREMA standards. 💭Time for a #tbt! We have particularly fond memories of the Marston Box railway bridge, part of the HS2 mega-project - one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe. 💡The challenge: Development of formwork and scaffolding solutions for the construction of the bridge, pre-assembled and moved to its final position using lateral bridge sliding. 💪The solution: To avoid traffic disruptions, the 86-metre-long and 12,600-tonne box structure, including the superstructure, was completely assembled next to the M42 motorway near Birmingham and then moved to its final position by a specialised company using the box jacking method. As a result, the highway only had to be closed twice, for one week each time, over a twelve-month period. The crane-dependent wall formwork MANTO and the GASS shoring frames were used as formwork and shoring solutions to complete the project in a particularly time-, cost-, and CO2-efficient manner. Road Widening Success: Why We Chose the Tandem Roller We recently completed a road widening project. Our secret weapon? The tandem roller. Here's why it was essential: • Quality: Our tandem roller delivered superior compaction, creating smooth, durable surfaces that can withstand varied climate conditions. • Traffic-Friendly: Its dual-drum design helped us work efficiently, reducing disruption to busy traffic. • Versatile Performer: From asphalt to roadbase, this machine tackled every material we encountered. The tandem roller proved to be an invaluable asset in this project, enabling us to deliver high-quality results efficiently. cheryl@pembc.com.au (07) 3063 3282 www.pembc.com.au #InfrastructureImprovement #RoadWidening #UrbanDevelopment #ConstructionInnovation#CivilEngineering #QualityAssurance #Infrastructure #Precision #CivilEngineering #Infrastructure #EngineeringExcellence #SustainableEngineering #InnovationInConstruction #DeveloperSolutions #BrisbaneConstruction #QLD #CostEfficiency #CivilEngineering #LoganCity #IpswichCouncil #CivilConstruction

The amazing infrastructure of a suspension railway (upside-down railway) Suspension railways, also known as monorails, have several advantages, including: • Tighter curves: Suspended railways can make tighter turns than conventional railroads and straddle monorails. • More comfortable ride: When turning, passengers lean into the corner instead of away from it, making for a more comfortable ride. • Better adaptation to terrain: Suspended railways can adapt to their surroundings, which can reduce the amount of engineering and demolition needed. • All-weather operation: The running surface is not open-air, so it's not affected by severe weather like freezing rain and snow. • Less noise: The running noise is less than steel wheel and rail systems. • Less ground occupation: The structure is slender and occupies less ground resources. • Better field of vision: Passengers stand high, so their field of vision is transparent and unobstructed. • Better construction time: Construction can be faster and cheaper than elsewhere. • Better safety record: Suspended railways are a very safe form of transport. Big cities such as Tehran, the capital of Iran, with a population of almost 13 million, could easily solve part of their traffic problems by using technologies like monorail. But unfortunately, most of the time, urban management was and is in the hands of those who do not know much about urban planning! #Traffic #Monorail #UrbanManagement

The point where twenty first and eighteenth centuries meet 🕰️🎥👇. This impressive drone footage shows the section of #HS2’s Colne Valley Viaduct after deck segments were laid to span the Grand Union Canal, near Denham. The video juxtaposes the new 140-mile high speed London-Birmingham railway against the eighteenth century’s solution to connecting Britain’s two largest cities. - Both were built under powers granted by Act of Parliament. - Both arrive in the Birmingham district of Digbeth. - And with similar lengths – HS2, 140miles and the canal, 137 miles – were two of the largest civil engineering endeavours of their time. The two differ dramatically in other respects. Compared to the sedate progress of canal boats high speed trains will travel across the 2.1mile viaduct at speeds of up to 200mph, completing the journey between the capital and Britain's second city in just 49mins. #ColneValleyViaduct #GrandUnionCanal #Birmingham #London #HS2

It's interesting to observe how various intersection designs can enhance traffic flow. Here is a Common types of Interchanges that used in the design of road networks : +Diamond interchange: This type of interchange has two loops and four ramps connecting two intersecting roads at moderate to low traffic volume. + Cloverleaf interchange: This type of interchange has four loops connecting two intersecting roads at high traffic volume with ample land available. +Partial cloverleaf interchange: This type of interchange has two loops connecting two intersecting roads at high traffic volume with limited land available. +Stack interchange: This type of interchange has two levels, with ramps on the upper level and through roads on the lower level, connecting two intersecting roads at very high traffic volume and limited land availability. +Turbine interchange: This type of interchange has three levels, with ramps on the upper and middle levels and through roads on the lower level, connecting two intersecting roads at very high traffic volume and limited land availability. +Roundabout interchange: This type of interchange is a circular intersection with traffic flowing around a central island, connecting two intersecting roads at moderate to low traffic volume. +Diverging diamond interchange: This type of interchange has two diamonds that diverge and cross each other, allowing efficient traffic flow between two intersecting roads at moderate to high traffic volume.
