Employment law requires you to have a grievance procedure and share it in writing with your employees. But, aside from the law take a listen for a practical example of the benefit to your small business of having a procedure for both your business and your employees. Hi. I just thought I would come and talk about employment policies and a good example of why they're good to have in your business. So a small business owner reached out to me last week because they had had an employee complaint and the employee had wrote to them and said you need to deal with this as a grievance. And they panicked because they didn't know what to do. They've never had a grievance and they really didn't know what the process was to follow. So this is a great example. By a grievance policy would have been useful for them to have had in their business. So it's kind of a little bit twofold. So for you as an employer it's a great step by step guide so that you can see how you handle and when you get that employee grievance and for the employee it demonstrates what their they need to do and what you will then follow up with. So on both parties your expectations are met and it helps you. At least from a process point of view, to be able to handle it and both understand what's going to happen. It's important for them that they came and reached out to HR professional like me to get that advice that you're managing that grievance.
