In the UK, with our dynamic business landscape, interim leadership has become an important element in navigating change and transformation within organisations. We have seen numerous instances of successful leadership in departments, programmes or whole companies, as well as instances where challenges and failures have provided valuable lessons. In most successful programmes, developing a thorough understanding of organisational culture and potential resistance points up front has often been key. We have seen this particularly where there are employees who have had to either change their role, adapt their way of doing things or, indeed, foreseen that they will likely lose their jobs. Prioritising effective communication and stakeholder engagement with these groups is often crucial. Implementing cutting-edge technologies to improve efficiency and productivity is front and center right now with AI. Creating a culture of continuous improvement in order to adapt to technological advancements (noting the paragraph above) is going to be powerful here.. if you can get it right. Recognising the impact of change on employees and putting in place measures to support their well-being will be crucial to setting the right tone. Investing in professional development and training to prepare employees for changing roles will be key, as will showing them simply that you care! We have some great examples of what works.. and what quite obviously doesnt!
