Excellent article by Jeff St. John! Even though US transmission owners have been investing more than ever in grid infrastructure (over $25 billion annually), bottlenecks in the power grid are preventing the US from meeting surging demand and interconnecting the necessary new resources. Good news is that we do have tools to address these challenges: more proactive planning, grid enhancing technologies, and improved generator interconnection processes! Please invest to underground cables. They do not depend on hurricanes etc. People will be grateful not to be killed by overhead wires…. And cities will get more friendly appearance
Software only, zero hardware Dynamic Line Ratings are available immediately and add a third more grid capacity. See claw.gridraven.com

2moThanks for sharing and thank to the author of the article. Is it known how many of the withdrawn interconnection requests are duplicate and/or submitted multiple times, partially or totally? I am wondering how many GW of actual capacity are we talking about.
