Creating and distributing content on social, and not engaging with those who like and comment is like throwing a party and then the sitting alone in the corner not talking to anyone you invited. Executive-level thought leadership is probably the most capital efficient way to build affinity to your brand for #consultingfirm founders and leaders, even though it is incredibly resource intensive. Yet, I consistently see #consulting and #advisory firm leaders leaving money on the table. Every post you put out on this platform, you should be doing with activation in mind: - Does this show your expertise? - Does content appeal to the right people? - Will this encourage engagement? - What types of comments or questions will people have? - What other related content or information can I point people to? - What follow-up questions can I ask people about this topic? Shocker: I don't know everything. And neither do you. Going up through the ranks of Marketing I always prided myself on what I did know, what I could contribute and the impact I could make. Lots of I's. Hey, it's a bit boasty but it got me to where I am today, so I am proud of it. But something has changed. As you move from IC to leadership you often find yourself moving further away from the things that got you there, the things you know. First, I felt this made me weak. It's okay, don't panic if you are feeling like this too. In leadership, it's okay to say, "I don't know." *The lesson:* you don't need to know everything but you do need to be able to find and work with people that do. I shifted my thinking to good leadership is knowing that your job is to find people that are better than you to execute the plans you create today. This past year Traction Complete has been fortunate to start leveraging more smart people to help us grow: 1. Directive - helping us find efficiencies and scale our ads program. Jadene Lim has been doing and amazing job and with the help of the team Daizy Jain and Usman Shabbar we hope to blow this sky high. 2. SamSales - Samantha McKenna and Courtney Garcia helping us develop our LinkedIn game and bring both personality and practicality to the forefront. 3. Growth Sprints - excited to bring on Brendan Hufford to help us explode our organic growth and tackle so brand awareness challenges with our fearless content leader Rebecca Pelletier. Few years ago, the world was grappling with COVID, and consumer behavior's was shifting dramatically. But rather than buckle under the pressure, we saw it as an opportunity to innovate and grow. Here’s a story of how we led our marketing team through unprecedented uncertainties and came out stronger. 💪 When COVID hit, it felt like the ground was shifting beneath our feet. The usual marketing playbook was out the window. But in times of crisis, leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about guiding your team with confidence and compassion. ❤️ → 1. Trust in Your Team: ↳ The first step was to trust in the collective strength of our team. We encouraged open communication and brainstorming sessions where every idea was valued. This fostered a sense of unity and purpose. 🤝 → 2. Pivot and Adapt: ↳ We noticed a massive shift towards online shopping. Instead of focusing on the loss of in-store sales, we doubled down on our ecommerce strategies. We launched targeted digital campaigns, highlighting the stylish and durable nature of GSHOCK watches. This pivot not only sustained us but opened new avenues for growth. 🌍 → 3. Empathy as a Core Value: ↳ During such turbulent times, empathy became our guiding light. We checked in regularly with our team members, acknowledging their struggles and offering support. This built a resilient and motivated team, ready to tackle any challenge. → 4. Consumer-Centric Approach: ↳ Understanding that consumers’ needs were changing, we conducted regular surveys and market research. We found that consumers were looking for value and reliability. We tailored our messaging to underscore these qualities in our products. → 5. Innovation in Adversity: ↳ Instead of viewing instability as a setback, we saw it as a chance to innovate. We explored new marketing channels and experimented with creative content that resonated with our audience. This kept our brand relevant and engaging. 💡 Looking back, the challenges we faced during these uncertain times didn’t just test us—they transformed us. Our team emerged more cohesive, innovative, and resilient. We learned that in the face of uncertainty, the key lies in trust, empathy, and adaptability. To all the leaders out there navigating through choppy waters, remember: your greatest asset is your team. why are marketers still upset that executives in their company aren't posting on linkedin? if you want that to happen, it falls to marketing. not just to share a link and say 'go like this or reshare.' but marketing needs to take that next step and actually ghostwrite for executives. it's on marketing and content and social's shoulders to listen to the execs, learn their voice, and carve out a series of positions and opinions that are in line with what the company and leader wants to present. thought leadership can't be about endless self-promotion and feature promo. if you want your execs to become thought leaders, you need to make it as easy for them as possible (when starting)...and that can mean actually ghostwriting the content for them. also, it's never been easier to do this #marketing #thoughtleadership #socialselling
