Excellent and comprehensive review of AI in healthcare. I appreciated the insight into AI models involving healthcare systems lacking accuracy, which validates our need to monitor and improve. Huge potentials, however. “According to the McKinsey analysis conducted for this article and based on today’s healthcare spending in Canada, a CA $14 billion to CA $26 billion per year net savings opportunity could be generated in the Canadian healthcare system in the near term by using AI at scale to improve quality of care, enhance patient and staff experiences, simplify administrative work, and optimize overall system management across the main areas of healthcare.” Enjoy the read!

How is AI changing Canadian healthcare for the better? Across the world, AI is helping to create more efficient and safe healthcare systems, aiding diagnosis and treatment, patient care, and streamlining daily admin. But in what three areas is AI making the largest difference to Canadian healthcare, specifically? ️➡️ Quality of care – AI is being introduced into the systems and processes used to treat and monitor patients, leading to more efficient and effective care. For example, Swift Medical's platform combines mobile devices, AI-powered computer vision, and machine learning to help document, measure, and monitor wounds. ➡️ Admin support – By automating administrative tasks such as diary management, billing and staffing, AI is reducing the administrative burden on clinicians and allowing them to focus more of their time on delivering exceptional patient care. ➡️ System management – To better manage our workforce and resources long-term, AI can be used to forecast demand and deploy resources more accurately. It can also be used to provide remote monitoring. For example, a pilot project in Québec found that a home-based solution for monitoring oxygen requirements in cases of acute heart failure has the potential to increase bed capacity by 5%. How else can you see AI benefitting our healthcare system for the better? https://lnkd.in/ghPPYh37 #Healthcare #Medical #TalentAcquisition

Four Key Trends for Leaders to Watch in Healthcare in 2025: As we approach 2025, key trends that signal profound shifts in the healthcare landscape are emerging. These developments highlight the industry's evolution towards innovation, efficiency, and equity, from the expanded adoption of AI in diagnostics to the acceleration of value-based care models. Artificial intelligence continues to redefine diagnostic precision, treatment personalization, and operational workflows. Yet, its success hinges on ethical deployment and equitable access. Similarly, value-based care models are gaining traction, requiring organizations to rethink how they deliver outcomes while addressing systemic barriers such as social determinants of health. Meanwhile, mental health, long underfunded and stigmatized, is finally receiving the attention it deserves. Integrating these services into broader care strategies will be critical for holistic patient well-being. As these trends take shape, healthcare leaders must embrace agility, innovation, and collaboration. Aligning technology with patient-centered models, fostering partnerships across sectors, and prioritizing inclusive care are essential to navigating this new era. https://lnkd.in/eJtMFWWv #HealthcareInnovation #HealthEquity #AI

🎯Electronic Patient Records (EPRs) play a crucial role in enhancing healthcare efficiency and integration, particularly within Integrated Care Systems and Integrated Care Boards. They are key to achieving a future where healthcare is interconnected, streamlined, and patient-centric. 🎯However, the adoption of EPRs faces significant challenges, primarily due to the integration limitations of current systems. These limitations often lead to a fragmented approach, preventing seamless data flow. 🎯In a recent article for Hospital Hub, Gary Mooney, a clinical solutions executive at InterSystems, discusses how technological advancements, such as artificial intelligence (AI), can revolutionize EPR interactions. He highlights how AI can personalize these interactions, streamline diagnostics, and optimize care pathways, ultimately accelerating EPR adoption and improving health outcomes. 🎯Read more: https://lnkd.in/dx8NZffc #AI #HealthCare #EPRs

Harnessing public perception to drive responsible AI in healthcare - Digital Health As healthcare technology evolves, understanding public and staff perceptions of AI is crucial. Research shows that while 54% of the public supports AI in patient care, concerns about diminishing human elements and decision-making accuracy persist. NHS staff are generally more supportive, reflecting their familiarity with healthcare systems. The language used to describe innovations, like virtual wards, significantly impacts public acceptance. Additionally, equitable access remains a challenge, particularly for lower-income groups. To realize AI's potential, we must ensure responsible implementation that prioritizes collaboration, transparency, and inclusivity. #HealthcareIT #AIinHealthcare #DigitalHealth #HealthEquity #PatientCare #Innovation #NHS ai.mediformatica.com #health #healthcare #staff #technology #digital #research #rewired #responsibleai #aiinhealthcare #healthfoundation #nhsstaff #thehealthfoundation #digitalhealth #healthit #healthtech #healthcaretechnology @MediFormatica (https://buff.ly/4hi9Okf)

Will 2024 be a turning point for value-based care, as this article by Rajiv Mahale in Future Healthcare Today suggests? It could be in primary care if leaders are thoughtful about where they innovate and with whom. Mahale suggests value-based care innovation this year will be fueled by the adoption and ethical use of #AI, the ability to reduce the administrative burden of care on staff, and improved prior authorization processes, the importance of which cannot be overstated. But for true healthcare transformation to occur while we continue to see private equity dollars fuel tech innovation, we need the following: - The ability to attract the right talent to primary care during a time of provider shortages - Aligning financial incentives for all stakeholders - A focus on data-driven, tech-enabled care, which as it stands now requires better integration of data-driving predictive analytics and efficient automation while ethical use of generative AI is explored and refined - A personalized approach to care that reflects a deep desire to address each patient’s whole-health needs and a strong understanding of the unique health-related social needs of the community - Agility in ensuring access to care when patients need it - Continued commitment to education for every member of the primary care team Friends and colleagues: What would you add to this list? #healthcare #primarycare #privateequity #value #innovation #disruption Cedar Gate Technologies
