The discussion was inspiring, and the energy in the room was a testament to the sector’s momentum. Some of the key takeaways: 🔹 UK healthcare is firmly back as an institutional asset class at scale. While mid-market deals dominate, larger players are actively entering the space. 🔹 Debt financing trends mirror this shift - larger deals require increasingly sophisticated underwriting and structuring. 🔹 The OpCo remains undervalued, presenting significant opportunity. Financing is still at low leverage levels. 🔹 A strong pipeline is emerging, driven by founder-owners and mid-market PE exits - many delayed by the pandemic or now triggered by rising costs. 🔹 Buy-and-bolt strategies are increasingly attractive, given development cost, timeline, and return challenges. 🔹 Older purpose-built stock is gaining traction as a viable investment model, with investors taking a long-term, 25-year cash flow view.
