Interesting stat: 38% of Aussie workers are planning to switch jobs in the next 12 months. As someone who speaks to job seekers every day, this got me thinking about what this means for our industry. Normally the issues are easily fixed... but are managers addressing potential turnover? Some food for thought: • People prioritise culture, wellbeing support, and flexibility post-COVID • Gen Z is all about that work-life balance • Gen X values great co-workers • Colleagues are more open about pay and have more resources to see the market rates What matters most to you in your role? What changes would you like to see across the board?

🌟 Are we keeping our best people? A look at employee retention in 2024 🌟 Keeping top talent is more challenging than ever, both in the UK and the US. 🇬🇧 In the UK, about one-third of employees are moving on each year, with many switching jobs or stepping away from the workforce entirely (according to XpertHR). Sectors like hospitality feel the brunt of this, where turnover rates are through the roof (according to CIPD). 🇺🇸 Across the pond in the US, around 18% of workers are considering leaving their current roles this year (according to the Work Institute). And it’s not just about the paycheck – many are citing a lack of career growth, feeling overworked, or not having a good work-life balance as reasons for wanting to make a change (according to Gallup). These stats are a wake-up call! We need to ask ourselves: Are we doing enough to keep our teams happy, motivated, and growing? Let's double down on building a work environment where people feel valued, have room to grow, and can achieve a balance that works for them. After all, a satisfied employee is the best investment any company can make! #EmployeeRetention #WorkCulture #Leadership #CareerGrowth #HappyEmployees

🌟 **Why Do Employees Leave? It’s Not Just About the Money!** 🌟 When it comes to employee turnover, we often jump to the conclusion that salary is the main driver behind why people leave their jobs. While compensation is important, there are several other critical factors that play a significant role in job satisfaction and retention. Here are the top three reasons candidates decide to move on, beyond just the paycheck: 1. **Lack of Career Growth Opportunities** 📈 Employees are motivated by career advancement and professional development. When they feel stuck in a role with no clear path for progression or skill enhancement, they’re more likely to seek opportunities elsewhere. Investing in training and creating clear career pathways can significantly boost retention. 2. **Poor Work-Life Balance** ⚖️ In today’s fast-paced world, achieving a healthy work-life balance is crucial. When employees find themselves consistently overwhelmed or unable to balance their personal and professional lives, their job satisfaction can plummet. Flexible working arrangements and supportive policies are key to keeping your team happy and engaged. 3. **Toxic Work Environment** 🏢 A negative work culture, lack of recognition, or poor management can drive employees away faster than any salary bump can keep them. Building a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace where people feel valued and appreciated is essential for long-term retention. Ultimately, creating a fulfilling and supportive work environment can make all the difference in retaining top talent. It’s not just about the money—it’s about creating a workplace where people truly want to stay and grow. I'm Nicky, an experienced Recruiter supporting IT SME businesses. 🌟 Attention Employers and Job Seekers! 🌟 📊 Did you know that according to recent research from Gallup Institutes, 1 in 2 U.S. employees are open to leaving their current organization? Shocking, right? But that's not all - only 28% of U.S. employees would recommend their employer! 😱 💸 And here's something that might make you sit up straight: the estimated cost of hiring an employee who ends up quitting is a whopping $24,000! 💸 🔍 So, what's driving this trend? While "Pay/Benefits" remains a common reason for employees leaving their jobs, the research shows that organizations need to focus on other critical factors like engagement, culture, and work-life balance to retain talent. In fact, four times as many people left their jobs due to "Engagement and Culture" or "Wellbeing and Work-Life Balance" reasons compared to those leaving for better pay or benefits! 🎯 So, what are employees looking for in their next job? Greater work-life balance, improved personal wellbeing, and opportunities to do what they do best are top priorities. 🚀 Employers, it's time to take action to create environments where employees feel valued, engaged, and fulfilled. And job seekers, don't settle for less - prioritize your own wellbeing and seek opportunities that align with your values and strengths! Let's work together to build a brighter future for work! 💼✨ #EmployeeEngagement #WorkLifeBalance #EQConsultingInternational #CareerGoals
